About the Position

We are seeking an experienced science tutor to join our Student Support Services team at Weber State University. As a tutor, you will play a vital role in supporting students enrolled in a wide range of science courses, including chemistry, zoology, microbiology, and physics. Your expertise and passion for teaching will help students achieve academic success and reach their full potential.

Key Responsibilities

As a science tutor, your key responsibilities will include:


Providing one-on-one tutoring to students enrolled in science courses, including chemistry, zoology, microbiology, and physics
Developing and implementing effective tutoring strategies to meet the needs of students with diverse learning styles and abilities
Communicating clearly and effectively with students, faculty, and staff to ensure seamless support services
Staying up-to-date with curriculum changes and developments in science education to ensure that tutoring services are relevant and effective
Collaborating with other tutors and support services staff to ensure a comprehensive and cohesive support system for students


Essential Qualifications

To be successful in this role, you will need to possess the following essential qualifications:


A B+ or greater in the science course you wish to tutor
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to listen actively and explain complex concepts clearly
Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple responsibilities
A commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion, with a passion for creating an inclusive and supportive learning environment


Preferred Qualifications

While not essential, the following qualifications would be highly desirable:


Experience working with students from diverse backgrounds and with varying learning styles and abilities
Knowledge of curriculum and instructional strategies in science education
Experience using technology to support teaching and learning, such as online tutoring platforms and educational software
Fluency in a second language, with the ability to communicate effectively with students who may have limited English proficiency
