Position Overview

We are currently seeking a Remote Medical Customer Service Representative who will act as an advocate for healthcare members and serve as a liaison between the Health Plan and Providers to ensure availability and access to care. The ideal candidate will establish a community presence, promote member education, and identify and resolve any systemic barriers that limit members' access to appropriate care.

Location: This is a remote position, but you must reside in Waco, Texas, or the surrounding areas to be considered for this role.

Key Responsibilities

As a Member Advocacy Specialist at arenaflex, you will take on a multifaceted role that requires exceptional communication skills, problem-solving abilities, and a deep commitment to member satisfaction. Your primary responsibilities will include:


Member Advocacy: Act as a dedicated advocate for healthcare members, ensuring their voices are heard and their needs are met. You will serve as the primary point of contact for members seeking assistance with healthcare access issues.

Complaint Resolution: Receive and respond to member complaints and formal grievances with empathy and efficiency. Identify potential access barriers and resolve issues according to established grievance procedures.

Issue Investigation: Investigate and resolve access and cultural sensitivity issues identified by Member Services staff, state staff, providers, advocacy organizations, and recipients. Ensure that all members receive culturally competent care.

Community Engagement: Participate in local community organizations to acquire knowledge and insight regarding the special health care needs of members. Use this information to update and revise educational materials as appropriate.

Stakeholder Liaison: Serve as the primary contact for member advocacy groups, human services agencies, and state entities. Build strong relationships to facilitate seamless communication and problem resolution.

Compliance: Maintain strict confidentiality per HIPAA guidelines and ensure all interactions comply with relevant healthcare regulations and standards.

Documentation: Maintain accurate and detailed records of all member interactions, complaints, and resolutions. Prepare reports as needed to track trends and identify areas for improvement.

Education: Develop and deliver educational content to help members understand their healthcare benefits, rights, and available resources.


Essential Qualifications

To succeed in this role, you must possess the following qualifications:


Education: High school diploma or equivalent required. Post-secondary education in healthcare, social work, or a related field is highly preferred.

Experience: Minimum of 3 years of customer service experience in a healthcare environment. This experience should include direct interaction with patients, members, or clients in a healthcare setting.

Knowledge: Familiarity with Medicare and/or Medicaid programs is strongly preferred. Understanding of healthcare billing, claims processing, and member benefits is a significant advantage.

Language Skills: Bilingual proficiency in Spanish and English is highly preferred. The ability to communicate effectively with diverse populations is essential for this role.

Technical Proficiency: Comfortable using various computer systems and software applications for member management, documentation, and communication.
