Job Overview
We are seeking an experienced control systems designer and automation specialist to join our team on a full-time remote basis. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining control systems for Amazon's fulfillment centers, with a focus on increasing equipment reliability and operational performance. You will work closely with various stakeholders, including building operations, projects engineering, FC startup groups, and safety teams, to support MHE systems development and project execution.
Key Responsibilities
Direct and plan work activities for Control Systems Specialists/Leads to achieve objectives and targets of North America Customer Satisfaction groups
Collaborate with building operations, projects engineering, FC startup groups, and safety teams to support MHE systems development and project execution
Understand, maintain, and troubleshoot material handling control systems, including PLC/PC controllers and industrial networks such as Ethernet, Control Net, Device Net, and Profibus
Monitor MHE metrics and partner with maintenance/operations to address system performance issues and provide analysis across all operations
Act as first-level escalation support for Control Systems Specialists/Leads, during and after business hours, troubleshooting locally and remotely, and repairing all hardware or controls software systems within the facility
Properly escalate downtime situations to vendors or headquarters for support to restore equipment operation
Mentor Control Systems Specialists (CST) and Control Systems Leads (CSL) within your assigned facility
Apply domain expertise in material handling and electronic systems to maximize building utilization of systems
Essential Qualifications
To be successful in this role, you will need to have:
Experience with electrical theory, advanced mechanics, controls components, and automated gear
Experience identifying, maintaining, troubleshooting, programming, and designing HMI and control network components
Experience identifying, maintaining, troubleshooting, and modifying motor controls, including motor starters, variable frequency drives, DC drives, and standard electrical components
Industrial electrical hands-on experience and troubleshooting, including 480V 3-phase, 110 VAC, and 24VDC systems
Experience interpreting, modifying, and creating mechanical and electrical drawings
Experience identifying, maintaining, and utilizing SCADA systems and KPIs
Experience with programming, such as FT View, and other controls software platforms
Experience with advanced mechanics work cells and their control systems
Ability to lead others in a technical role and collaborate with all levels of management
Thinking, logical, and problem-solving skills
Ability to train others with lesser skills
Ability to interpret and understand policies and procedures and relate them to others
Preferred Qualifications
While not essential, the following qualifications are highly desirable:
Systems controls design or programming experience
Experience with material handling systems and equipment
