Job Summary: As a Raven Writes Writing Coach, you will collaborate with teachers, administrators, and other coaches to support extensive job-embedded, on-going professional learning through a grant-funded project: Raven Writes. You will become certified in Cultural Proficiency and lead workshops on the cultural proficiency framework in all elementary schools. You will also be trained in the Self-Regulated Strategy Development writing approach and support teachers in implementing SRSD within the context of the Raven Writes project. Key Responsibilities: Design, coordinate, and deliver leadership and instruction to teachers and paraprofessionals Use coaching models to work with teachers as a group and one-on-one in their classrooms to ensure success and help them implement new learning strategies Provide training and support to teachers, paraprofessionals, and district tutors Identify, recruit, and enroll teachers for program participation Regularly observe instruction in classrooms and provide feedback to teachers Maintain regular collaboration with SHI, TLS, and SERRC staff to ensure grant goals and initiatives are embedded in work with staff Interpret test results and statistical data concerning literacy to the administration, staff, and public at large Record and report data on writing kit usage by teachers and students Requirements and Qualifications: Essential Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in education or related field Valid Alaska teaching certificate Five years of successful teaching experience Knowledge of many teaching strategies for diverse students Preferred Qualifications: Master's degree in education or related field Experience with coaching models and instructional design Knowledge of cultural proficiency and self-regulated strategy development Skills and Competencies: To be successful in this role, you will need: Excellent communication and interpersonal skills Strong instructional design and delivery skills Ability to work with diverse students and teachers Strong analytical and problem-solving skills Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information Career Growth Opportunities and Learning Benefits: As a Raven Writes Writing Coach, you will have opportunities to: Develop your coaching and instructional design skills Collaborate with other coaches and teachers to support student learning Participate in professional development opportunities to enhance your knowledge and skills Contribute to the development of writing kits and instructional materials Work Environment and Company Culture: The Juneau School District is committed to creating a positive and supportive work environment that values diversity, equity, and inclusion.
