As a remote position requiring Secret or Top-Secret clearance, this role is pivotal in developing, editing, and managing comprehensive policies, procedures, and technical documentation for our client's IT Division, ensuring alignment with industry standards, regulatory requirements, and organizational objectives. About Our Client and the Role Our client operates within the Federal defense sector, where cybersecurity, compliance, and efficient IT operations are paramount. As a Policy and Technical Writer, you will be instrumental in crafting clear, concise, and compliant documentation that supports organizational efficiency and adherence to regulatory frameworks such as FISMA, NIST, and OMB directives. Key Responsibilities Draft, review, and maintain IT Division policies, standards, guidelines, and procedures in accordance with DoD and federal regulations. Regularly update supervisors, leadership, and key stakeholders on the status of policies being drafted or updated. Develop clear, actionable, and compliant policy documentation by understanding federal IT frameworks and DoD compliance requirements. Ensure IT policies align with federal mandates, organizational goals, and best practices for cybersecurity, data management, and infrastructure. Collaborate with IT, cybersecurity, legal, and operations teams to gather input and ensure policies reflect operational realities and technical requirements. Perform policy gap analyses and recommend updates to maintain compliance with evolving regulations. Act as a liaison between technical teams and IT Division Leadership to ensure clarity and mutual understanding in policy-related matters. Update and review weekly policy and CATMS slides and present progress and status to the Policy Team and DoDEA Chief Information Officer (CIO). Assist with the management of published DoDEA Issuances, templates, and supporting policy documentation. Support the DoDEA Digital Success and Communications (DS&C) team in developing Customer Advisory Notices (CAN), Field Advisory Notices (FAN), and IT Operational Directives (ITOD) as needed. Track and update CATMS and communicate changes in policy effectively across the organization. Prepare status reports and presentations on policy compliance, updates, and implementation progress for executive leadership and other oversight bodies. Essential Qualifications and Skills To excel in this role, you should possess: 5-8 years of related writing experience, preferably in policy writing or technical documentation. Secret or TS Clearance. A Bachelor's degree in English, Communications, or a related field. Proven experience in developing clear, concise, and comprehensive documentation. Strong analytical, research, and organizational skills. Proficiency with documentation tools and content management systems. Excellent verbal and written communication skills with a keen attention to detail. Preferred Qualifications While not mandatory, the following qualifications can significantly enhance your candidacy: Experience working within the Federal defense or civilian sectors. Familiarity with DoD and federal IT regulations and compliance frameworks. Previous collaboration with cross-functional teams, including IT, cybersecurity, and legal.
