Job Overview As a Physical Security Engineer at Amazon, you will be responsible for leading security plans for DCs in the Americas Region and influencing AWS overall DC security policies. You will work closely with other AWS Security Teams, AWS Management, and stakeholders to collaborate on the overall implementation of Physical Security across AWS. Your expertise will be crucial in providing specific guidance, influencing the design of DC facilities, resolving complex implementation issues, and developing and presenting security design requirements to internal and external project stakeholders. Key Responsibilities Lead plans (development drawings and details) for physical security components (cameras, access control, intrusion detection, walls, doors, etc.) for DC projects Collaborate with other security teams within AWS to develop design standards, review cost, risk, and benefits of designs, and work with design discussions Pass theoretical designs on to internal partners and external consultants Participate in design reviews, model reviews, and design details for physical security components Develop security design scope of work for design RFPs Review and direct work produced by physical security design consultants Manage multiple fast-paced projects simultaneously Travel for site assessments, design meetings, construction review, and interfacing with design consultants (up to 25%) Essential Qualifications To be successful in this role, you will need to have a strong educational background and relevant work experience. The essential qualifications for this role include: Bachelor's degree in a relevant field (e.g., engineering, architecture, or a related field) 3+ years of physical security design experience 3+ years of physical security design experience in server farms or equivalent critical facilities Preferred Qualifications In addition to the essential qualifications, the following preferred qualifications will be highly valued: Professional engineering license Physical Security Professional (PSP) certification Crime Prevention Through Environmental Design (CPTED) certification Strong working knowledge of AutoCAD, Revit, Bluebeam, and MS Office Suite Familiarity with building codes, regulations, and standards, including IBC, IFC Vendor and contractor management skills Excellent communication and collaboration skills Ability to travel internationally Skills and Competencies To excel in this role, you will need to possess a range of skills and competencies, including: Strong technical skills and knowledge of physical security design principles and practices Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams Strong problem-solving and analytical skills, with the ability to resolve complex implementation issues Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, managing multiple projects simultaneously Strong attention to detail, with a focus on delivering high-quality results Career Growth Opportunities and Learning Benefits At Amazon, we are committed to the growth and development of our employees.
