Position Overview

As a Pharmacy Customer Service Associate at arenaflex, you will play a crucial role in ensuring a positive, seamless experience for every customer who walks through our doors or interacts with our pharmacy services. This position combines excellent customer service skills with pharmacy operations support, making it an ideal role for someone who enjoys interacting with people and has a keen eye for detail.

You'll be responsible for registering customer purchases, providing friendly and efficient checkout services, and assisting our pharmacists with various pharmacy tasks. The ideal candidate will be comfortable working in a fast-paced environment, possess strong communication skills, and be committed to delivering outstanding service to every customer.

Key Responsibilities

Customer Service Excellence


Greet and engage customers warmly, creating a welcoming and positive atmosphere from the moment they enter the store
Provide courteous, friendly, quick, and efficient assistance to all customers, ensuring their needs are met with professionalism and care
Address and resolve customer concerns, issues, and questions promptly to ensure a positive customer experience
Recommend items to customers and suggest appropriate upsell or companion items based on their needs
Model and demonstrate exceptional customer support best practices, including positive interpersonal habits such as welcoming greetings, eye contact, and courteous communication
Follow arenaflex service values, including offering help proactively, identifying needs, and following up until customers are satisfied


Point of Sale Operations


Register customer purchases on the assigned sales register with accuracy and efficiency
Collect appropriate payment from customers and disseminate correct change as requested
Process voids, returns, delays, refunds, and exchanges as needed in accordance with company policies
Guide customers to appropriate store sections, such as the Over-The-Counter (OTC) aisle, to help them find products
Maintain clean and well-organized counters and displays
Perform inventory counts and maintain accurate records as required or as directed by management
Check in and price stock as necessary or as directed by senior management or the shift leader


Pharmacy Support


Assist the pharmacist, under direct supervision, in the practice of pharmacy in accordance with state and federal guidelines
Use pharmacy systems to obtain patient and medication information and process prescriptions accurately
Enter patient and medication information into the pharmacy system, ensuring all data is input correctly
Fill prescriptions by retrieving, counting, and pouring prescription medications accurately
Verify that medications are correct and check for potential drug interactions
Support pharmacists in scheduling and maintaining workflow efficiency
Report prescription errors to the pharmacist on duty immediately and adhere to organization policies and procedures related to pharmacy errors and the Quality Improvement Program
Review and follow the arenaflex Pharmacy Operating Guidelines
Strictly adhere to arenaflex policy regarding Good Faith Dispensing during all prescription dispensing activities
Handle phone calls that do not require the pharmacist's personal attention, including calls to physicians
Process (edit and resubmit) manual claims for third-party program prescription services in a timely and efficient manner
Perform other administrative duties as assigned by the Pharmacy Manager


Inventory Management


Assist and support the Pharmacy Division with inventory management activities, including ordering, unloading, checking, and storing pharmaceutical shipments
Maintain knowledge of organization asset security procedures
File claims for warehouse overages (stock received but not charged), shortages (stock charged but not received), order errors, or damaged goods including prescription drugs
Ensure compliance with state and local regulations regarding controlled substances (e.g., alcoholic beverages and tobacco products)
Build and maintain displays, including promotional, seasonal, super saver, and deal stock
Complete resets and corrections as directed
Assist with the division of food items (e.g., raw foods from pre-cooked) and product positioning as determined by policies and procedures
For consumable items, assist with inventory rotation using the first-in, first-out (FIFO) method and restock outs


Additional Store Support


Demonstrate working knowledge of store systems and store equipment
Provide customer service in the photo area, including digital passport photo service, banner printing and creative machine, and special sale of seasonal photo products
Take on web order responsibilities, including monitoring orders in Picture Care Plus, fulfilling orders (picking items), and delivering orders to customers as they arrive at the store
Assist with external and internal maintenance by ensuring a clean, neat, organized store condition and appearance
Comply with all company policies and procedures
Maintain respectful relationships with coworkers
Complete special projects and other tasks as assigned


Training and Professional Development

Acquire and maintain PTCB (Pharmacy Technician Certification Board) certification through the designated PTCB training program and/or state-required certification/registration
Attend training sessions and complete required learning modules as directed by your supervisor or assigned by corporate
Obtain continuing education credits as required
Maintain current knowledge and expertise in healthcare and pharmacy, including the latest news and developments in the field


Qualifications and Requirements

Essential Qualifications


Education: Bachelor's Degree preferred; however, equivalent experience will be considered
Language Skills: Must be fluent in reading, writing, and speaking English (with the exception of Puerto Rico)
Availability: Must be willing to work a flexible schedule, including evenings and weekend hours
Legal Authorization: Must be legally authorized to work in the United States


Preferred Qualifications


Six months or more of experience in a retail environment
Previous work experience in a pharmacy or healthcare setting
Strong mathematical skills to fill prescriptions accurately, including counting, measuring, and weighing medications
Proficient computer skills
Knowledge of store inventory control procedures
PTCB certification or willingness to obtain certification
