Position Overview

We are currently looking for a motivated Pharmacy Customer Service Associate to provide excellent service to our patients while supporting our pharmacy operations. This position involves registering transactions, assisting customers with their pharmaceutical needs, and ensuring compliance with all regulatory requirements. The ideal candidate will possess strong communication skills, attention to detail, and a genuine desire to help others.

Key Responsibilities

Customer Service Excellence

Greet and engage patients and customers in a warm, professional manner, creating a positive first impression
Respond to customer inquiries and resolve issues promptly to ensure a superior customer experience
Recommend appropriate products and services, including cross-selling and upselling opportunities when appropriate
Demonstrate excellent interpersonal skills, including friendly demeanor, positive body language, and professional verbal communication
Go above and beyond to assist customers, anticipating their needs and ensuring complete satisfaction before they leave


Point of Sale Operations

Process customer transactions accurately using the designated sales register system
Collect payments, provide correct change, and handle cash transactions with precision and integrity
Process voids, returns, exchanges, and refunds as needed, following company policies
Direct customers to appropriate aisles, particularly the over-the-counter section, to help them locate products
Maintain clean, well-organized checkout areas and counters


Pharmacy Operations Support

Assist the pharmacist by utilizing pharmacy systems to enter patient and medication information accurately
Process prescriptions by retrieving, counting, pouring, and verifying medication for accuracy
Check for potential drug interactions and alert the pharmacist to any concerns
Support workflow scheduling and maintain efficient pharmacy operations
Report prescription errors immediately to the supervising pharmacist and adhere to quality improvement protocols
Follow all organization policies and procedures regarding pharmacy operations and error reporting


Administrative Duties

Handle phone calls that do not require the pharmacist's direct attention, including physician inquiries
Process manual claims for third-party prescription programs efficiently and accurately
Complete various administrative tasks as assigned by the Pharmacy Director
Maintain accurate records and documentation as required by company policies and regulations


Inventory Management

Support pharmacy division inventory activities, including ordering, unloading, checking, and storing medication shipments
Maintain awareness of organization asset security procedures
Report warehouse overages, shortages, order errors, or damaged goods, including prescription medications
Assist with stock rotation using the first-in, first-out (FIFO) method
Complete inventory counts and pricing as directed by senior management


Compliance and Store Maintenance

Ensure compliance with state and local regulations regarding controlled substances, including alcoholic beverages and tobacco products
Build and maintain displays, including promotional, seasonal, and sale merchandise
Complete resets and corrections as directed by management
Assist with food item organization and product placement according to company procedures
Support internal and external maintenance to ensure a clean, tidy, and professional store appearance


Photo Department and Additional Duties

Provide customer service in the photo area, including digital passport photo services, banner printing, and creative machine operations
Process online orders, including picking items and delivering orders to customers as they arrive
Complete special projects and other assigned tasks as needed


Training and Professional Development

Obtain and maintain PTCB (Pharmacy Technician Certification Board) certification through our designated training program or state-required certification
Attend required training sessions and complete assigned PPLs (Performance Proficiency Learning)
Pursue continuing education credits as directed by management
Stay current on healthcare and pharmacy industry news, advancements, and best practices


Qualifications and Requirements

Essential Qualifications

Education: Bachelor's Degree preferred
Language Skills: Must be proficient in reading, writing, and speaking English
Availability: Must be willing to work a flexible schedule, including evenings and weekends
Communication: Excellent verbal communication skills and ability to interact positively with customers and team members
Technical Proficiency: Basic computer skills and familiarity with point-of-sale systems


Preferred Qualifications

Six months or more of experience in a retail environment
Previous work experience in a pharmacy or healthcare setting
Strong mathematical skills for accurately counting, measuring, and weighing medications
Proficiency in using pharmacy software and systems
Knowledge of store inventory control procedures
PTCB certification or willingness to obtain certification
Familiarity with customer service best practices
