Role Overview As a Part-Time Remote Customer Service Specialist at blithequark, you will be the initial point of contact for patients, healthcare facilities, physicians, and clinical staff, facilitating patient healthcare needs and providing exceptional customer service. This role requires a high level of critical thinking, speed, and accuracy in navigating the electronic health record to obtain and validate historical information, capture and document demographic and financial information, and maintain patient privacy and security. Key Responsibilities Navigate the electronic health record to obtain and validate historical information, capture and document demographic and financial information, and maintain patient privacy and security as outlined by HIPAA. Manage a high volume of incoming calls from patients, healthcare providers, and facilities, ensuring resolution to the call and providing excellent customer service in a variety of situations. Leverage critical thinking with speed and accuracy to identify the reason for the call and take appropriate action based on caller need and acuity. Schedule patient visits based on complex provider preferences, verify and update insurance, and check insurance eligibility. Maintain proficiency in and share knowledge of insurance basics, MyChart, and appointment instructions. Document and send messages to providers and clinical staff in the electronic health record for clinical-based needs. Communicate directly with providers (physicians) to relay pertinent clinical information during after hours. Manage calls within established performance and customer service standards, achieving targeted abandoned call rate, average speed of answer, and average transaction time. Essential Qualifications High School Diploma or GED 2-5 years of customer service experience, preferably in a healthcare setting Typing speed of at least 35 wpm with 90% accuracy Ability to work in a constant state of alertness and in a safe manner Excellent communication and interpersonal skills Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills Preferred Qualifications Recent healthcare or customer service experience Knowledge of electronic health records and HIPAA regulations Experience working in a fast-paced, dynamic environment Ability to work independently and as part of a remote team What We Offer At blithequark, we are committed to providing our employees with a comprehensive benefits package and resources to support their physical, emotional, social, and financial well-being.
