Job Summary
We are seeking a highly qualified and motivated Part-Time Federal Program Tutor Advisor to provide instructional support services to students at Iditarod Elementary School. As a part-time tutor advisor, you will work under the direct supervision of a certified teacher to provide one-on-one tutoring, assist with classroom management, and compile student records. This is a .3125 FTE position, working 2.5 hours per day, with a competitive salary of $17.13 per hour.
Key Responsibilities
Provide one-on-one tutoring to students in need of academic intervention, as scheduled by the teacher
Assist with classroom management, including organizing instructional materials and maintaining a positive learning environment
Compile and maintain accurate student records on attendance, testing results, student progress, and achievement
Provide information, materials, and instructional support to classroom instructors
Conduct parent involvement activities, including parent-teacher conferences, phone calls, and home visits
Coordinate parent/family school functions at the school site
Attend meetings and parent conferences to provide information and facilitate communication between students, parents, and instructors
Provide support in the library or media center, as needed
Conduct progress monitoring assessments and maintain accurate progress monitoring data
Perform other duties as assigned by the teacher or school administration
Requirements and Qualifications
Essential Qualifications:
Completed two years (48 semester credits) of study at an institution of higher education, or obtained an associate's degree
Met a rigorous standard of quality and able to demonstrate, through a formal State or local assessment, knowledge of and the ability to assist in instructing reading, writing, and mathematics
Ability to maintain effective communication with students and staff, and to function effectively as a team member
Ability to carry out and evaluate the achievement of students after the teacher prepares the lesson and plans the instructional support activities
Ability to test and identify and keep accurate records on new and existing students
Demonstrate adequate level of instructional technology skills
Experience and training working with children with diverse backgrounds in an instructional setting
Preferred Qualifications:
Bilingual or multilingual skills
Experience working with students with special needs or English language learners
Knowledge of curriculum design and instructional strategies
