About the Position The Assistant Faculty in Economics will play a crucial role in creating an optimal learning environment by supporting instructional faculty in interacting with students in online classrooms. The successful candidate will be responsible for analyzing student activity, providing appropriate responses, managing generic student communications, and utilizing the online learning platform (Blackboard) to communicate with students. This position requires a strong and diverse skillset, including excellent communication skills, sound judgment, and the ability to lead group discussions. Key Responsibilities Analyze student activity within discussions and assessments and choose the appropriate responses based on training and input from the master instructor. Accurately use the right type of responses based upon training and input from the master instructor. Assist in managing generic student communications and utilize online learning platform (Blackboard) to communicate with students. Escalate unique issues to the master instructor and assist with grading. Monitor engagement levels and provide recommendations on the best approach on how to increase engagement. Adhere to university policies and procedures and perform other duties as assigned. Essential Qualifications To be considered for this role, candidates must meet the following essential qualifications: A Master's degree in Economics from an accredited institution is required. A minimum of 5 years of professional experience in an Economics-related field is required. Previous teaching experience with adult learners is required, and experience in online education is highly desirable. Candidates must have excellent verbal and written communication skills, strong computer skills, and the ability to lead group discussions. Strong mental acuity, sound judgment, and the ability to manage potentially stressful situations in a professional and ethical manner are essential. Preferred Qualifications While not required, the following qualifications are highly desirable: Experience with online learning platforms, such as Blackboard. Knowledge of adult learning theory and experience in curriculum development. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to think critically and creatively. Experience in working with diverse student populations and a commitment to promoting inclusivity and diversity in the classroom.
