We're seeking an experienced Park Attendant I to join our team at the City of Escondido, working remotely from the comfort of your own home. As a Park Attendant I, you'll have the opportunity to work in a dynamic environment, providing top-notch service to our customers while maintaining the cleanliness and safety of our parks. As a Park Attendant I, you'll be part of a team that's dedicated to providing exceptional service to our residents and visitors, while also contributing to the preservation and enhancement of our beautiful parks and recreational areas. Key Responsibilities As a Park Attendant I, your primary responsibilities will include: Providing excellent customer service to park visitors, responding to their needs and concerns in a friendly and professional manner. Cleaning, maintaining, and making minor repairs to boats and boat motors, as well as assisting with various park maintenance tasks such as tree trimming, landscape maintenance, trail maintenance, and more. Collecting fees and keeping routine records, operating a cash register, answering phones, and using computers to book customer reservations. Deep cleaning and disinfecting multiple restroom buildings, surfaces, toilets, and shower facilities, using hazardous chemicals common to custodial work. Emptying trash cans throughout the park, cleaning the fish room, and disposing of fish waste. Vacuuming and cleaning the ranger station, demonstrating proper cleaning procedures and techniques to other employees as assigned. Performing security patrols of the campground and park after hours, if assigned to the night shift. Utilizing a variety of hand tools and power tools, monitoring quantities of materials and supplies used, and replenishing or ordering replacements as needed. Setting up tables, chairs, and other equipment for meetings, maintaining and performing minor repairs and adjustments to assigned equipment. Assisting with logistics during emergencies, including emergency medical response, securing City buildings and facilities by turning off the lights and locking all doors and windows. Closing and securing designated parking areas for special events and activities as assigned, directing traffic during special events as assigned by supervisor. Driving a city vehicle, as assigned by supervisor, using 2-way radios for communicating with other staff members. Reading, understanding, and following Material Safety Data Sheets and other related documents. Requirements To be successful as a Park Attendant I, you'll need to possess: 17 years or older Own transportation Ability to lift 50 lbs. with assistance Demonstrate ability to be responsible and reliable, follow verbal and written instructions, follow City and department policies and procedures, and maintain open communication with supervisors. Preferred Qualifications While not required, the following qualifications are highly desirable: Previous experience in a park or recreational setting Knowledge of park maintenance and operations Ability to work independently and as part of a team Excellent communication and customer service skills Ability to lift 25 pounds and push/pull objects up to 10 pounds Physical Demands and Working Conditions As a Park Attendant I, you'll be working in a variety of environments, including indoors and outdoors, with exposure to extreme heat and humidity, temperature swings, extreme noise, vibration, moving mechanical parts, electric shock, fumes and odors of cleaning solutions, dust, and toxic substances. You'll be required to: Walk, reach, and grasp continuously Lift and carry objects weighing up to 10 pounds Stand, sit, stoop, kneel, and crouch frequently Reach at and above shoulder height Push/pull objects up to 10 pounds Use hazardous chemicals common to custodial work Compensation and Benefits As a Park Attendant I, you'll receive a competitive hourly rate of $16.00, with variable hours and a maximum of 24 hours per week.
