Job Description
As a Paraprofessional - Special Education Personal Care Assistant (PCA), you will work closely with students with special needs, providing support and guidance to help them achieve their full potential. Your role will involve:

Key Responsibilities:

Engaging with students and staff to create a positive and inclusive learning environment
Performing instructional support tasks, such as supervision, tutoring, and coaching, to help students meet their academic goals
Providing behavioral support, including communicating positive expectations, prompting/signaling, and redirecting, to help students manage their behavior and develop essential life skills
Assisting with clerical tasks, such as organizing materials and recording progress and observations, to ensure the smooth operation of the classroom


Qualifications:
To be eligible for this position, you must meet the following criteria:

Be a high school graduate or possess a GED
Have completed at least two (2) years of postsecondary study, or
Possess an associate's degree or higher, or
Complete a series of job-based trainings during the first year of employment, and continuing education credit hours during subsequent years


Skills and Competencies:
To succeed in this role, you will need:

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Ability to work effectively with students, staff, and parents
Patience, empathy, and understanding when working with students with special needs
Basic computer skills and ability to learn new software and systems
