About the Maine Crisis Line
The Maine Crisis Line (MCL) is part of our continuum of crisis intervention and stabilization services, providing 24-hour telephone response for adults, families, and children during a mental health crisis. As a Crisis Call Specialist, you will play a vital role in supporting individuals and families experiencing a mental health crisis, providing them with the help and resources they need to navigate challenging situations.

Job Overview
We are seeking an experienced and compassionate Overnight Crisis Call Specialist to join our team at the Maine Crisis Line. As a Crisis Call Specialist, you will work with callers to assess presenting problems and psychosocial stressors, complete risk assessments to ensure the safety and well-being of callers, and use effective programmatic systems to support the effective monitoring of progress toward performance measures. This is a full-time, 40 hours/week, overnight position, with a schedule of 8:30pm - 7:00am, either Saturday through Thursday or Tuesday through Friday.

Key Responsibilities

Work with callers to assess presenting problems and psychosocial stressors
Complete risk assessments to ensure the safety and well-being of callers experiencing a crisis
Use effective programmatic systems to support the effective monitoring of progress toward performance measures
Collaborate with Crisis Response Services in the eight Districts across the State
Provide support and resources to individuals and families in crisis
Document calls and interactions with callers in a timely and accurate manner


Qualifications and Requirements
To be successful in this role, you will need:

An Associate Degree in a related field
A year or more of crisis or mental health-related experience preferred
Ability to earn the MHRT-CSP certification within 30 days of employment (training provided onsite)
Solid oral communication skills, with the ability to communicate clearly, succinctly, and in a customer-friendly manner
Ability to learn and understand written crisis call documentation skills
Ability to manage complex tasks effectively
Previous experience working in a call center or customer service environment is a plus
Demonstrated ability to work effectively with complex information to address challenging situations
Ability to become familiar with DSM-V information
Ability to work independently as well as in a team environment
Flexible schedule is required

Compensation and Benefits
The pay rate for this position is $23 per hour, with an additional overnight shift differential of $4/hour for hours worked between 10pm - 8am.
