As an Oracle DBA, you will play a critical role in providing complete support for managed database and application infrastructure operations to our clients. Key Responsibilities As an Oracle DBA at Pythian, your primary responsibilities will include: Coordinating, analyzing, designing, implementing, and administering database solutions to meet customer needs Overseeing database backup, recovery, and replication, including real application clustering, mirroring, and failover Developing and reviewing action plans for maintenance, deployment, upgrades, and other activities, and completing relevant customer documentation Recommending best practices for improving current operational processes and procedures Configuring and maintaining servers at the database and infrastructure level Troubleshooting database operational problems and administering proactive daily checks Responding to monitoring alerts and communicating status and planning activities to customers and team members Learning different database technologies and providing support to customers on infrastructure and database issues Providing initial support to customers on performance issues and troubleshooting and resolving problems related to database systems Contributing to team documentation and collaborating with teammates to improve working culture and technical excellence Requirements and Qualifications To be successful in this role, you should have: 4+ years of experience in database administration, with a focus on Oracle databases (including Oracle RAC) and a good understanding of Oracle database technologies A curiosity mindset and tenacity to fully diagnose and resolve issues Troubleshooting and performance improvement skills, including index creation, query optimization, and schema changes Understanding of database security management and experience with logical and physical replication Knowledge of Oracle Data Guard and Golden Gate replication, as well as Oracle Enterprise Manager and Linux Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively with customers and team members What We Offer In return for your skills and experience, Pythian offers a competitive total rewards package, including: A competitive salary and annual bonus plan An annual training allowance and 2 paid professional development days to help you hone your skills and learn new ones 3 weeks of paid time off and flexible working hours to support your work-life balance A laptop and equipment to work from home, with a budget to personalize your work environment The opportunity to blog during work hours, take a day off to volunteer for your favorite charity, and be part of a community that values work-life balance and personal growth Why Pythian?
