Key Responsibilities Assist the surgeon in the operating room by providing exposure, hemostasis, and other technical functions according to the surgeon's directives, ensuring the highest level of patient care and safety. Conduct preoperative assessments, including reviewing patient history, to determine the appropriate plan of care and identify potential risks or complications. Ensure all surgical instruments and equipment are properly sterilized and prepared before surgery, adhering to strict infection control protocols and maintaining a safe and efficient operating room environment. Provide postoperative care by assessing for complications, applying dressings, and offering pain management solutions, prioritizing patient comfort and well-being. Collaborate with the surgical team, anesthesiologists, and other healthcare professionals to ensure comprehensive patient care throughout the surgical process, promoting effective communication and teamwork. Qualifications and Requirements To be successful in this role, you will need to possess the following essential qualifications and skills: Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in good standing, with a strong foundation in operating room nursing and surgical services. Completion of an accredited RNFA program, including both didactic and clinical components, demonstrating your expertise as a First Assistant. Minimum of 2 years of operating room experience with surgical scrub and/or circulating duties, with a proven track record of providing high-quality patient care in a fast-paced environment. Certification as a Registered Nurse First Assistant (CRNFA) from a recognized body preferred, highlighting your commitment to professional development and excellence in your field. Current Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification, ensuring you are equipped to respond to emergency situations and provide critical care when needed.
