Key Responsibilities

As an Experienced Ocean Product Development Manager, you will be responsible for:


Executing strategies to support the growth of ocean volumes and enhance the development of the ocean product
Working closely with the MD of Ocean to support carrier development, pricing, analysis of carrier service, routings, carrier performance, and supporting carrier service issues
Supporting sales and operations as an ocean subject matter expert
Implementing and communicating strategies to increase volumes, maximize competitiveness, enhance service, and support adherence to the preferred network
Assisting in implementing pricing programs, reviewing volume targets, and working with the TLM to develop an ocean strategy that enhances the effectiveness of sales to achieve expectations of account development and yield enhancement
Communicating both internally and externally to outline strategy, market conditions, and working closely with the MD, Ocean, along with the global trade lane team, sales, and operations to communicate direction and deliverables
Direct and indirect customer contact will also be required
Working closely with product, sales, and operations to ensure compliance with policies and procedures to minimize the company's risk exposure and enhance service quality and achieve volume targets
Conducting regular service reviews to ensure agreed-upon KPIs are being met or exceeded
Assisting in gathering, analyzing, and reporting information regarding performance and competitive activity; submitting reports as required
Working with the MD, Ocean, along with the regional ocean management team, to promote the ocean product
Supporting sales and operations as needed
Managing annual budget; controlling, monitoring, and reporting results on a regular basis to achieve budget targets
Working closely with marketing to develop external and internal communications specific to the ocean product


Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:


Bachelor's degree or equivalent
At least 8 years of experience in the international freight forwarding industry, including direct ocean experience in working with ocean contracts, negotiating ocean rates, quoting ocean rates, analyzing ocean rates, and routing
Prior ocean carrier experience is a plus
Familiarity with Microsoft Office apps
Excellent communication and presentation skills
Business-oriented and remarkable business acumen
Strong interpersonal and leadership skills
