Job Overview and Responsibilities As a Nursing Assistant at Good Samaritan University Hospital, you will play a vital role in assisting our nursing staff in providing high-quality patient care. Your responsibilities will include, but are not limited to: Assisting in the safe treatment and care of patients in accordance with established policies and procedures Providing emotional support and comfort to patients and their families Maintaining a clean and safe environment for patients, including cleaning and disinfecting patient rooms and equipment Assisting with vital signs, including taking temperatures, blood pressures, and pulse rates Supporting the nursing staff with various tasks, such as preparing patients for exams and procedures Communicating effectively with patients, families, and healthcare team members to ensure seamless care Maintaining accurate and up-to-date records of patient information Requirements and Qualifications To be considered for this exciting opportunity, you must meet the following requirements: Completion of a Nursing Assistant program, BOCES, or Military Hospital Corps School, or equivalent, with current New York State CNA certification Alternatively, completion of a Nursing fundamentals course or equivalent within an RN program, or a minimum of 2 years' experience working as a Nursing Assistant High School diploma or equivalent Knowledge of safety and infection control practices Knowledge of computer systems and/or prior clerical experience required BLS or CPR/AED training required, accepted from the American Heart Association - BLS/ACLS for Healthcare Providers (no online programs will be accepted) Preferred Qualifications and Skills While not required, the following qualifications and skills are highly desirable: Previous experience working in a hospital or healthcare setting Strong communication and interpersonal skills Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment Basic life support certification Experience with electronic medical records (EMRs) Career Growth Opportunities and Learning Benefits At Catholic Health, we are committed to supporting the professional and educational growth of our team members.
