About the Role We're excited to announce that we're currently looking for an experienced Managing Editor to join our team in the News department. As a Managing Editor, you'll play a crucial role in shaping the content strategy and ensuring that our news section is always up-to-date during weekends and weekday evenings. Key Responsibilities Work with a team of in-house and remote content creators and journalists to develop and implement content strategies that drive engagement and views. Compete against the world's top publishers to be the first to cover breaking news, ensuring that our content is timely, relevant, and accurate. Review all content to ensure it meets high standards of quality and engagement, making recommendations for improvement where necessary. Optimize content strategy according to data to maximize views per article, using analytics tools to track performance and make data-driven decisions. Research various topics to identify trends, emerging issues, and unique angles for articles, determining which topics should be covered and prioritizing tasks accordingly. Create and generate fresh, engaging, and attention-grabbing article ideas, including coming up with compelling headlines and angles. What We Expect We're looking for a highly skilled and experienced Managing Editor who can bring a wealth of knowledge and expertise to our team. Here are the key qualifications and skills we're looking for: Bachelor's degree in journalism, communications, English, or another related field. Native-level English skills, with excellent writing and editing skills to craft high-quality articles and ensure they are free of grammatical errors, typos, and inconsistencies. Newsroom experience as editor, copy editor, reporter, managing editor, or similar roles, with a proven track record of success in finding and breaking exclusive stories. Current affairs knowledge, staying up-to-date with world events, entertainment news, and relevant trends, with a deep understanding of current affairs to identify relevant topics for articles. Time management skills, with the ability to manage time effectively, meet deadlines, and prioritize tasks in a fast-paced news and online content environment.
