Position Overview: Lead Data Scientist – Retail Strategic Health Analytics

We are looking for an experienced data scientist who thrives in a collaborative environment and is passionate about using data to solve complex business challenges. In this role, you will serve as both a technical expert and a strategic partner, working closely with business leaders to identify opportunities, develop solutions, and drive measurable outcomes.

The ideal candidate will have a strong foundation in statistical analysis, machine learning, and predictive modeling, combined with the ability to communicate complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders. You will own and manage analytics workstreams, leading other analysts and data scientists in building end-to-end analytical products that deliver real value to the organization.

Key Responsibilities

As a Lead Data Scientist at arenaflex, your responsibilities will include:


Analytics Strategy Development: Collaborate with business partners to shape the analytics strategy that addresses key business priorities. Serve as an idea leader, leveraging predictive modeling, statistical analysis, and metric analysis to drive strategic decisions.

Workstream Leadership: Own and manage analytics workstreams while leading and mentoring other analysts and data scientists. Build end-to-end analytical products that solve critical business problems and deliver measurable value.

Advanced Modeling & Analysis: Apply robust knowledge of algorithms and predictive models to recommend approaches, investigate issues, detect patterns, and propose data-driven solutions. Develop and implement sophisticated statistical models that inform business strategy.

Data Exploration & Interpretation: Perform comprehensive analyses of structured and unstructured data to solve multiple and complex business problems. Utilize advanced statistical techniques, mathematical analyses, and deep knowledge of the healthcare industry to extract meaningful insights.

Technical Documentation & Presentation: Develop and participate in presentations and consultations to present analytical findings and solutions to both internal and external stakeholders. Translate complex technical findings into actionable business recommendations.

Programming & Data Manipulation: Use strong programming skills to explore, examine, and interpret large volumes of data in various forms. Leverage R, Python, SQL, and other programming languages to manipulate and analyze complex datasets.

Stakeholder Collaboration: Work closely with business partners to understand their challenges and develop analytics solutions that align with organizational goals. Build strong relationships across departments to drive adoption of analytical insights.


Required Qualifications

To be successful in this role, candidates must meet the following requirements:


Professional Experience: A minimum of 3+ years of relevant analytical experience in data science, business analytics, or a related field. Previous experience in healthcare, retail, or consumer analytics is highly desirable.

Programming Expertise: Demonstrated experience programming using R or Python, with strong proficiency in data manipulation, analysis, and visualization libraries. Experience with statistical modeling packages and machine learning frameworks is essential.

Database Knowledge: Hands-on experience with SQL for data extraction, manipulation, and analysis. Ability to work with large datasets and optimize query performance.

Statistical Foundations: Strong foundation in statistical analysis, hypothesis testing, regression modeling, and experimental design. Ability to apply appropriate statistical techniques to solve business problems.

Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to present complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences. Demonstrated ability to translate analytical findings into clear, actionable business recommendations.

Problem-Solving Abilities: Strong analytical and critical thinking skills, with the ability to approach ambiguous problems systematically and develop creative solutions.

Big Data Technologies: Strong knowledge of advanced analytics tools and languages to analyze large datasets from multiple data sources. Experience with distributed computing frameworks such as Spark or Hadoop is a plus.

Specialized Expertise: Demonstrated skill in most areas of mathematical analysis methods, machine learning, statistical analyses, and predictive modeling, with in-depth specialization in specific areas such as healthcare analytics, customer segmentation, or demand forecasting.

Industry Experience: Previous experience in retail health, pharmaceutical, or healthcare analytics is highly valued. Understanding of healthcare data structures, reimbursement models, and regulatory requirements is beneficial.


Education Requirements

Required: Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience in Mathematics, Data Science, Computer Science, Business Analytics, Economics, Physics, Engineering, or a related discipline.

Preferred: Master's degree or PhD in a quantitative field is strongly preferred. Advanced degrees demonstrate deeper technical expertise and are highly valued at arenaflex.
