Key Responsibilities: Leading Engaging Group Fitness Classes Teach high-quality group fitness classes, including Kickboxing, Weight Lifting, High Intensity Intervals, Cycling, Dance, Yoga, and Meditation, among others, to diverse groups of participants. Create a fun, safe, and educational environment that promotes member wellness and adheres to YMCA policies and procedures. Maintain accurate class attendance records and provide excellent customer service to members. Stay up-to-date with the latest fitness industry trends and best practices to ensure that classes are effective and engaging. Respond to emergency situations in accordance with YMCA policies and procedures. Essential Qualifications: Certification, Experience, and Skills To be successful in this role, you will need: Current certification in CPR/AED and a national certification in group fitness instruction (ACE, NETA, AFAA, NASM) or YMCA Foundations of Group Exercise Certification. Certification in areas of expertise, such as Cardio, Strength, Yoga, Cycle, Mat Pilates, Dance, ForeverWell, or Silver Sneakers. Demonstrated customer service and communication skills. Ability to work with diverse fitness abilities and ages. Preferred 1 year of experience teaching group fitness classes. Work Environment: A Dynamic and Inclusive Studio Setting As a Group Fitness Instructor, you will work in a dynamic studio environment that is equipped with state-of-the-art equipment and technology. You will be required to: Conduct classes and activities relating to fitness. Perform physical aspects of the position, including walking, standing, bending, reaching, and lifting up to 50 lbs at a time. Work in an environment with moderate to loud music volume. Recognize and respond to emergency situations in a calm and effective manner.
