Job Summary

We're seeking an experienced full stack software engineer to join our Android group as a Lead Software Engineer. As a key member of our team, you'll be responsible for designing, developing, and delivering high-quality applications for Disney+ and Star+ across a wide range of devices, including phones, tablets, and televisions. You'll work closely with our team to identify opportunities for improvement and implement solutions that drive business results.

Key Responsibilities


Design, develop, and deliver high-quality applications for Disney+ and Star+ using Kotlin, Java, and Android SDK
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify opportunities for improvement and implement solutions that drive business results
Lead whole projects from start to finish, including delivery cycle, remote setup management, and live creation issues
Develop and maintain high-quality code, including unit tests, automated tests, modern libraries, and a Kotlin codebase
Work closely with the team to identify and address technical issues, and provide guidance and support as needed
Develop and maintain documentation, including code comments, API documentation, and technical guides
Participate in code reviews and provide feedback to improve code quality and best practices
Stay up-to-date with industry trends and emerging technologies, and apply this knowledge to improve our applications and processes


Essential Qualifications


Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related technical field
5+ years of experience in software development, with a focus on Android development
Strong knowledge of Kotlin, Java, and Android SDK
Experience with reactive programming and dependency injection
Knowledge of various architectural patterns (MVI/MVVM or similar)
Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively across teams
Experience with version control systems, such as Git
Experience with build tools, such as Gradle


Preferred Qualifications


Experience with Android TV/Amazon Fire TV development
Knowledge of web-based video, codecs, and DRM
Experience with execution assessment tools, such as Android Profiler
Experience with modern Android libraries, such as Blade 2/Handle, RxJava2, Groupie
Experience with modularized codebases and large-scale applications


Skills and Competencies


Strong problem-solving skills, with the ability to analyze complex technical issues and develop effective solutions
Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively across teams
Strong knowledge of software development principles, including design patterns, testing, and code quality
Experience with Agile development methodologies, including Scrum and Kanban
Strong understanding of cloud computing and web services, including APIs and microservices
