Description JOB SUMMARY The EDGE ESTIMATOR is responsible for measuring, calculating, and estimating materials and labor required for roof edge systems on residential, commercial, and industrial roofing projects. This role focuses on determining quantities and costs for roof perimeter components such as drip edge, fascia, flashing, coping, and edge metal. The estimator reviews construction plans, performs site measurements, prepares cost estimates, and collaborates with project managers, suppliers, and installation teams to ensure accurate bidding and project planning. JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: MEASUERE roof perimeters and edge conditions using blueprints, aerial measurement tools, and on-site inspections. CALCULATE quantities for edge materials including drip edge, starter shingles, edge metal, fascia trim, and flashing. PREPARE detailed cost estimates for materials, labor, equipment, and waste factors. REVIEW architectural drawings, specifications, and scope of work related to roofing edges and perimeter systems. COORDINATE with suppliers and manufacturers to obtain pricing for edge materials. PREPARE and submit bid proposals and estimations reports. ENSURE compliance with local building codes, safety standards, and roofing system requirements. MAINTAIN accurate records of estimates, measurements, and project documentation. WORK with project managers and roofing crews to clarify edge installation requirements. ASSIST in value engineering and cost reduction strategies when needed. PERFORMS OTHER ESSENTIAL DUTIES AS ASSIGNED. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES: Knowledge of roofing systems and roof edge components (drip edge, flashing, coping, fascia, edge metal.). Knowledge of construction estimating principles and cost analysis. Knowledge blueprint reading and construction drawings. Knowledge of roofing materials, measurements, and installation methods. Knowledge of building codes and roofing standards. Knowledge of roofing estimating software and digital measurement tools. Ability to analyze roofing plans and determine edge material requirements. Ability to perform precise linear measurements and cost estimates. Ability to work independently and manage multiple estimates simultaneously. Ability to identify discrepancies in construction drawings or measurements. Ability to adapt estimates based on project scope changes. Skilled in mathematical and cost calculation. Skilled in time management and ability to meet bid deadlines. Skilled in paying attention to detail when calculating material quantities and costs. Requirements MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: High school diploma or equivalent Two (2) years experience in construction or estimating Two (2) years experience in roofing, construction estimating, or building trades Two (2) years experience reading construction drawings and specifications PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS Five (5) years of roofing or construction estimating experience Experience with aerial measurement tools Knowledge of commercial and residential roofing systems OSHA safety training or construction safety certification SPECIAL QUALIFICATIONS Must pass a criminal background check Must have a valid driver’s license Must have and maintain a good driving record Must be AGILE. WORK CONDITIONS: Works outside in all types of weather and may be exposed to extreme heat and cold, rain, snow, sun etc. Safety Sensitive: This is a safety sensitive position due to driving requirements or job responsibilities whole include safety-sensitive tasks that require performing duties fraught with risk of injury to others where even a momentary lapse of attention may have grave and disastrous consequences.
