About the Role
We're looking for a high-impact individual to join our team as a Director of User Research. This is a fully remote opportunity that requires a strong and diverse skillset in relevant areas to drive success. As a Director of User Research, you'll be responsible for creating a deep understanding and empathy for our users, driving prioritization of research efforts, and leading a team of talented user researchers. You'll be a highly respected senior partner and thought leader across departments, championing and driving high-quality user experiences across our ecosystem.
Key Responsibilities
Conduct qualitative and quantitative research studies to inform product development and design decisions
Drive prioritization of research efforts in support of broader organizational goals
Lead, mentor, and grow a team of talented user researchers
Be a highly respected senior partner and thought leader across departments
Champion and drive high-quality user experiences across Workiva's ecosystem
Develop and maintain a deep understanding of our customers' needs, preferences, and pain points
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure research findings are integrated into product development and design decisions
Stay up-to-date with industry trends and best practices in user research, and apply this knowledge to drive innovation and improvement
Requirements
To be successful in this role, you'll need to have a strong background in user research, with a minimum of 10+ years of experience delivering high-quality research results. You'll also need to have 5+ years of experience in building and coaching teams for high-impact results, as well as a strong portfolio or case studies demonstrating measurable business impacts. A Master's degree in a related field is preferred, but not required.

Undergraduate degree or equivalent combination of education and experience
Portfolio/Strong case studies demonstrating measurable business impacts
Demonstrated experience in scaling highly functioning user research teams
Experience in driving operational excellence for efficiency and effectiveness
Deep understanding of qualitative and quantitative research methods
Proven experience in user research, preferably in the B2B SaaS industry
Ability to influence others, tying insights to business impact
Excellent interpersonal, presentation, and communication skills
Expert knowledge of user research best practices and methodologies
Preferred Qualifications
Master's degree in a related field
Experience with agile methodologies and lean principles
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and prioritize multiple projects simultaneously
Experience with user research tools and technologies, such as user testing software and data analysis tools
