About the Role and How You Will Contribute As an Experienced Fire Protection Designer at Ahern, you will play a crucial role in designing automatic sprinkler systems using HydraCAD, an AutoCAD-based software product, and AutoSprink. With a strong focus on attention to detail, you will work closely with our Sales Project Managers to plan, organize, and execute projects from start to finish. Your responsibilities will include: Conducting on-site field surveys to gather necessary information for project design Generating hydraulic calculations to ensure system efficiency and compliance with industry standards Submitting drawings to obtain the required building permits and approvals Utilizing 3D BIM coordination using NavisWorks to ensure seamless project execution Preparing stock lists and ensuring projects adhere to the proposed timeline Preparing project close-out, operation, and maintenance documents to ensure a smooth handover Candidates with more experience will be given higher-level projects and the opportunity to mentor junior designers, providing a chance to develop leadership skills and share expertise. Qualifications and Skills Required To be successful in this role, you will need: A degree in a design/drafting-related program or equivalent experience 2+ years of experience in fire protection design, with a strong proficiency in AutoCAD and mathematical/technical skills to learn industry-specific software and codes Experience with AutoSprink is preferred, but not essential Excellent attention to detail and ability to thrive in a fast-paced, deadline-driven work environment Strong commitment to providing exceptional customer service and maintaining cutting-edge industry knowledge Ability to execute tasks with a high level of detail and accuracy If you have a passion for fire protection design and a desire to work with a leading contractor, we encourage you to apply.
