About the Role
As a Financial Analyst at American Express, you will be part of the Global Treasury Controllership (GTC) group, which plays a critical role in the company's treasury and financial management capabilities. Your primary responsibility will be to support the organization's continuous reporting drives, ensuring accurate and timely financial reporting, and compliance with regulatory requirements. You will work closely with senior management, global treasury, and other stakeholders to drive business growth and success.
Key Responsibilities
Support the organization's continuous reporting drives, including SEC and regulatory reporting
Prepare detailed analysis of portfolio performance, and present findings to senior management
Collaborate with global treasury, external reporting, and other teams to ensure accurate and timely financial reporting
Participate in projects driving automation and process improvements
Build and maintain effective relationships with colleagues, including treasury, external reporting, and audit teams
Document processes and maintain compliance with reporting controls
Support internal and external audits
Qualifications and Skills
To be successful in this role, you will need to possess a strong foundation in finance, accounting, or a related field, with a minimum of 1+ years of experience in review, accounting, or finance. Large 4 experience or CPA certification is preferred. You should have excellent communication, prioritization, and presentation skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team environment. Proficiency in Excel, PowerPoint, and other Microsoft Office tools is required, as well as experience with Oracle, SAP, or other financial systems.
Essential Qualifications
1+ years of experience in review, accounting, or finance
Project management experience
Essential understanding of US GAAP accounting
Excellent communication, prioritization, and presentation skills
Solid analytical skills
Ability to think outside the box and apply a process improvement mentality
Proficient in Excel, PowerPoint, and other Microsoft Office tools
Experience with Oracle, SAP, or other financial systems
Preferred Qualifications
Large 4 experience or CPA certification
Experience in treasury/depository controllership or knowledge of capital markets
Bachelor's or graduate degree in accounting or finance
