Key Responsibilities Develop and implement engaging and challenging lesson plans that cater to the diverse needs of English Learner students Create a supportive and inclusive classroom environment that promotes academic achievement and social growth Assess student progress and adjust instruction to meet the needs of individual learners Collaborate with colleagues to develop and implement curriculum that is culturally responsive and aligned with district standards Communicate effectively with students, parents, and guardians to ensure that all stakeholders are informed and involved in the educational process Participate in ongoing professional development to stay current with best practices in English Learner education and to enhance teaching skills Foster a growth mindset and promote a love of learning among students Contribute to the development of a positive and inclusive school culture Essential Qualifications To be considered for this position, you must possess: A current Minnesota teaching license A strong understanding of English Learner education and the ability to develop and implement effective instructional strategies Excellent classroom management skills and the ability to create a supportive and inclusive learning environment Strong communication and interpersonal skills A commitment to equity and diversity, and a willingness to work with students from diverse backgrounds The ability to work collaboratively with colleagues to achieve district goals and objectives Preferred Qualifications While not required, the following qualifications are highly desirable: Prior successful experience in urban, multicultural education Demonstrated commitment to ongoing professional development through coursework, research, peer collaboration, and/or job-embedded staff development A working knowledge of current researched best practices and strategies in English Learner education Experience with curriculum development and implementation A proven track record of promoting academic achievement and social growth among English Learner students Skills and Competencies To be successful in this role, you will need to possess: Strong instructional skills and the ability to develop and implement effective lesson plans Excellent classroom management skills and the ability to create a supportive and inclusive learning environment Strong communication and interpersonal skills The ability to work collaboratively with colleagues to achieve district goals and objectives A commitment to equity and diversity, and a willingness to work with students from diverse backgrounds A growth mindset and a willingness to adapt to changing circumstances Career Growth Opportunities and Learning Benefits At Rochester Public Schools, we are committed to supporting the ongoing growth and development of our employees.
