Job Summary
We're seeking an experienced Employee Relations Specialist to join our team in a regional Emergency Room Center of Excellence. As an Employee Relations Specialist, you'll play a critical role in managing employee relations issues and concerns through a telephone-based model, supporting multiple locations and organizations across the U.S. with a specific concentration in their geographic region.
Key Responsibilities
Develop and maintain positive, value-added, consultative relationships with business leaders and HR Business Partners across the American Express Blue Box
Identify and resolve employee issues within these groups, providing coaching and guidance on all performance management issues, including non-appearance, performance, conduct, and harassment
Ensure compliance with policies, practices, and applicable labor laws
Provide guidance and direction to promote a positive workplace culture
Manage a wide range of tasks, including understanding and development of policies and procedures, working with training on key Employee Relations issues, and contributing to the development and execution of Employee Relations programs
Conduct grievance investigations and work with resolutions, identifying process improvement opportunities and policy gaps through trend analysis
Effectively collaborate and communicate with colleagues throughout American Express, including HR Business Partners, Compliance, Health, Safety, Wellness Services, and General Counsel's Office
Requirements
Essential Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in a related field
PHR certification preferred
Experience in an HR consulting role with a demonstrated ability to influence without authority
Proven ability to establish boundaries, manage multiple priorities, and communicate against deadlines
Excellent interpersonal skills with experience managing multiple levels in an organization
Strong verbal and written communication skills with experience in presenting and contributing to the development of employee communications and training programs
Sound analytical, decisive thinking, problem-solving, and planning skills, with the ability to understand broad HR issues and resolve conflict situations
Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office Applications
Ability to conduct investigations and drive to positive resolution
Preferred Qualifications
Experience in a similar industry or role
Knowledge of labor laws and regulations
Certification in a related field (e.g., SHRM-CP, HRCI)
