Job Summary As an EHS Teacher, you'll play a vital role in shaping the lives of young children aged 0-3 years. Under the supervision of the Child Development Coordinator, you'll design and implement engaging, play-based learning activities that promote social-emotional, physical, and cognitive growth. You'll work closely with parents and families to enhance their role in their child's education and development, providing guidance and support to help them become their child's first and most important teacher. Key Responsibilities Classroom Safety: Develop and implement a plan to ensure the safety of children within the group, utilizing indoor and outdoor facilities. Complete daily health and safety checklists, reporting any needed repairs or maintenance to the Center Coordinator. Supervise children's activities to ensure their safety and well-being. Recognize and report accidents, illnesses, and suspected child abuse to the appropriate personnel. Conduct monthly emergency drills and maintain a clear and orderly classroom. Effective Teaching Practices: Plan and conduct class activities that encourage healthy habits and are tailored to the child's age and developmental level. Select and use materials and equipment that stimulate child development and reflect the children's culture(s). Design and facilitate daily learning activities based on children's interests, aligning with the Creative Curriculum to support School Readiness. Write and maintain accurate records, including child observations and assessments (DRDP) twice per year. Develop an Individual Development Plan (IDP) for each child in collaboration with parents, identifying learning goals and activities for home and school. Parent-Family-Community Engagement: Encourage parent participation in parent groups and provide opportunities for them to use their skills and talents. Communicate effectively with parents and children in their language, when possible. Conduct parent education meetings, including orientation, discussion of IDP, child development, curriculum, and parenting skills. Program Responsibilities: Attend trainings and meetings as scheduled and/or assigned. Perform special projects and other related duties as assigned. Abide by Agency Code of Conduct and policies, including applicable laws such as Mandated Reporting. Essential Qualifications and Skills To be successful in this role, you'll need: Education: Associate Teacher - 12 Core Units in Early Childhood Education; Teacher I - Associate's degree in Early Childhood Education or related field; Teacher II - Bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education or related field; Teacher III - Master's degree in Early Childhood Education or related field. Experience: At least two years' experience in a classroom or group setting with children. Knowledge and Skills: Ensure effective curriculum implementation and use of assessment data. Promote children's progress across the standards described in the California Preschool Curriculum Framework. Advance children's intellectual and physical development, including improving readiness for school. Establish and maintain a healthy learning environment. Support children's social and emotional development. Encourage family involvement and promote early childhood development. Demonstrate knowledge of safety issues in preschoolers and facilitate effective communication. Licenses and Certifications: California Child Development Associate Teacher Permit or higher; AB 1207 Mandated Reporter; CA certified Child CRP & First Aid certified; Pesticide Training (annually).
