Job Overview We are seeking a talented and compassionate Early Learning Specialist to join our team in Oldsmar, FL. As an Early Learning Specialist, you will be responsible for planning, developing, and implementing daily lesson plans that cater to the educational and enrichment needs of infants and toddlers in an Early Head Start classroom environment. Your expertise will play a vital role in creating a nurturing and stimulating environment that fosters cognitive, social, emotional, and physical development in young children. Key Responsibilities Develop and implement daily lesson plans that provide educational and enrichment activities for infants and toddlers, aligning with federal performance standards and developmentally appropriate practices. Design and arrange classrooms into distinctive learning areas that promote an effective learning environment, ensuring the safety, orderliness, sanitation, and cleanliness of facilities. Conduct screenings and assessments to determine developmental and educational needs, creating individual education plans that cater to each child's unique requirements. Maintain a comprehensive and ongoing portfolio assessment for each child, including weekly observations, examples of the child's work, and developmental assessments. Communicate effectively with parents through conferences, written correspondence, telephone calls, and home visits, keeping them informed about their child's progress, upcoming events, and classroom activities. Plan and coordinate field trips, ensuring the safety and well-being of children during these activities. Collaborate with other Early Head Start staff to discuss plans, coordinate concerns, and maintain strict confidentiality regarding children, families, and staff. Perform First Aid and Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) as needed, and maintain current certifications in these areas. Essential Qualifications High School Diploma or GED Equivalent, with a National Child Development Associate Credential (CDA) or Florida Child Care Professional Certificate (FCCPC) for Pre-school or Infant/Toddler Endorsement. One year of experience in teaching Head Start, Early Head Start, pre-school, or kindergarten-aged children, with a strong understanding of developmentally appropriate practices for infant/toddler education. Physical ability to lift at least 45 lbs. and provide physical assistance in the transportation of special needs children, with reasonable accommodation made for otherwise qualified persons with disabilities. Working knowledge of behavior modification theories and practices relating to infant/toddler development, as well as current educational techniques and practices. Ability to resolve conflicts between toddler-aged children, plan and organize infant/toddler education curriculums, and prepare and maintain work-related reports and files. Preferred Qualifications Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education or a related field, with a strong focus on infant/toddler development and education. Two or more years of experience in teaching Head Start, Early Head Start, pre-school, or kindergarten-aged children, with a proven track record of creating engaging and effective lesson plans. Bilingual or multilingual skills, with the ability to communicate effectively with diverse families and communities. Experience with Early Head Start programs, with a deep understanding of federal performance standards and developmentally appropriate practices.
