Fractional CFO (Life Sciences / Pharma Startup) – Financial Modeling & Fundraising Strategy

K-38 Consulting is seeking a senior Fractional CFO with deep experience in pharmaceutical and life sciences startups. You will partner with a high-potential company to build investor-ready financial materials and support an upcoming capital raise. This role requires strong financial leadership, strategic thinking, and hands-on execution. Project Objective Lead the development of: A robust 10-year financial model A comprehensive investor-ready business plan A clear and defensible use of funds strategy Your work will directly support conversations with institutional investors (VC, PE, strategic partners). Key Responsibilities Build a dynamic, integrated 3-statement financial model Define and validate key assumptions using industry benchmarks (biotech / pharma) Develop multiple scenarios (base, upside, downside) Structure and refine the business plan narrative for investors Translate scientific and operational inputs into financial drivers Develop a detailed and credible use of funds framework Collaborate closely with company leadership and K-38 Consulting Support iteration of investor materials, including pitch decks Requirements Proven experience as a CFO or Fractional CFO in life sciences, biotech, or pharma Strong track record supporting fundraising (Seed through Series B or beyond) Advanced expertise in financial modeling and forecasting Experience with early-stage or pre-revenue companies Ability to operate in fast-paced, evolving environments Clear, structured communication style Nice to Have Experience with clinical-stage companies (pre-clinical through trials) Familiarity with FDA pathways and drug development timelines Background in investment banking, venture capital, or top-tier consulting Engagement Details Type: Contract / Fractional Duration: Project-based (with potential extension) Location: Remote Expected involvement: High during initial phase How to Apply Please include: A brief introduction Relevant experience (especially in life sciences and fundraising) Examples of similar work (financial models, fundraising support, etc.) Availability and hourly or project rate About K38 Consulting K-38 Consulting partners with high-growth companies to deliver hands-on financial leadership and execution.
