About the Data Infrastructure Teams at blithequark The data infrastructure teams at blithequark are responsible for building and maintaining the backbone of our data-driven decision-making processes. We're a group of passionate engineers who are committed to creating a robust, scalable, and highly available distributed foundation that enables our microservices to thrive. Our teams are dynamic, and we're always looking for talented individuals to join our ranks. Key Focus Areas We're organized into several key focus areas, each with its own unique challenges and opportunities: Data Base Access Platform : We're building an elastic query gateway that enables data abstractions to operate at sub-millisecond latencies, making it easier for our microservices to store, consume, and manage their data. Data Platform Infrastructure : Our team provides a common foundation and tooling for our data platforms, enabling us to rapidly innovate and deliver cutting-edge data and analytics systems. Data Development and Processing : We're creating a self-service, streamlined product that enables diverse user personas across blithequark to meet their low-latency data development and processing needs. Big Data Compute : Our team is responsible for providing a cloud-native platform for distributed data processing at blithequark, supporting batch, ETL, and interactive queries. Big Data Orchestration : We're building a platform for scheduling, orchestrating, and executing big data jobs and workflows in a self-serve manner. Key Responsibilities As a Distributed Systems Engineer at blithequark, you'll be responsible for: Designing and building scalable, fault-tolerant, and highly available distributed systems that meet the needs of our business. Collaborating with cross-functional teams, including engineers, product managers, and TPMs to drive projects forward. Applying your programming and analytical problem-solving skills to solve real-world business problems at scale. Contributing to the open-source communities and sharing your experiences with the world. Staying up-to-date with the latest technologies and trends in distributed systems and data infrastructure. Essential Qualifications To succeed in this role, you'll need: 2+ years of experience building large-scale distributed systems or applications. Proficiency in designing and developing RESTful web services. Experience building and operating scalable, fault-tolerant, and distributed systems. Knowledge of Java or other object-oriented programming languages. Comfort with multi-threading and concurrency. A BS in Computer Science or a related field. Preferred Qualifications While not required, the following skills and experiences are highly valued: Experience with cloud-native technologies, such as AWS or GCP. Knowledge of containerization using Docker and Kubernetes. Familiarity with data processing frameworks, such as Apache Kafka, Apache Flink, or Apache Spark. Experience with data storage solutions, such as relational databases, NoSQL databases, or data warehouses. Participation in open-source projects or contributions to open-source communities.
