Job Highlights Company: Tesla Location: Remote (with opportunities for collaboration with teams in California, USA) Start Date: Immediate openings available Position: Data Scientist, Business Analytics Compensation: Competitive salary of $25/hour About the Business Analytics Group The Business Analytics group is responsible for providing insights around Tesla's business and related cycles, as well as customers and products. The team directly supports business leaders from brick and mortar stores to the executive team, ensuring that data-driven insights inform strategic decision-making. As a Data Scientist in this group, you will have the opportunity to work on high-impact projects that drive business growth and excellence. Key Responsibilities As a Data Scientist, you will be responsible for leading cross-functional projects that drive business process automations and support sales and service processes. Your key responsibilities will include: Contributing to all phases of data science projects, from translating complex business problems into data science issues to performing data analysis and modeling, and providing solutions to the business Creating and maintaining complex data pipelines to support the team's mission in democratizing data and empowering a data-driven organization Collaborating with Data Engineers, Machine Learning (ML) Specialists, and Product Managers to deliver significant business insights Applying various ML, advanced analytics, and visualization techniques to different datasets across the organization Effectively communicating significant insights to all levels of the organization, with varying levels of data science understanding and backgrounds Essential Qualifications To be successful in this role, you will need: A Bachelor's degree in a quantitative field (e.g., Data Science, Applied Mathematics, Business Analytics, Operations Research, Statistics, Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, Economics, or Engineering) 2+ years of experience in a quantitative field, with a strong background in data science and analytics Results-oriented mindset with strong business acumen and in-depth data science skills Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to communicate effectively at all levels in the organization Proven track record of extracting data insights and building ML models, particularly in business analytics (or related) areas Preferred Qualifications While not required, the following qualifications are preferred: Master's degree or Ph.D. in a quantitative field Experience working with large and complex datasets, structured or unstructured Expertise in SQL and Python, particularly in standard data science libraries and frameworks (e.g., pandas, numpy, scikit-learn, Tensorflow/PyTorch, PySpark) Proficiency in at least one visualization tool (e.g., Tableau, Streamlit) Experience with data wrangling and analyzing massive and complex datasets Ability to self-start and work independently in an unstructured environment, as well as navigate (and bring order to) ambiguity Skills and Competencies To succeed in this role, you will need to possess the following skills and competencies: Strong problem-solving and critical thinking skills, with the ability to quickly pivot when necessary Excellent project management skills, with the ability to manage and prioritize multiple tasks Strong collaboration and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, with a strong focus on delivering high-quality results Career Growth Opportunities and Learning Benefits At Tesla, we are committed to helping our employees grow and develop in their careers.
