Position Overview

Key Responsibilities
As a Data Engineer at arenaflex, you will play a critical role in our Dataworks division, focusing on creating and driving engineering innovation while delivering key business initiatives. Your responsibilities will include:
Data Pipeline Development: Design, build, test, and maintain robust data pipelines capable of processing data at massive scale, ensuring reliability and performance.
Data Ingestion & Integration: Support the ingestion of data from multiple internal and external sources, ensuring seamless integration into our data ecosystem.
Data Processing & Transformation: Handle batch processing of collected data, ensuring proper formatting and alignment with stored data structures. Transform raw data into actionable insights.
Pipeline Optimization: Work to optimize and enhance our data environment and pipelines for maximum efficiency, investigating performance bottlenecks and providing Level 3 support.
Data Validation & Enhancement: Implement parsers, validators, transformers, and correlators to reformat, update, and enrich data for downstream applications.
Technical Leadership: Provide guidance to junior team members and collaborate on resolving complex technical issues.
Cross-Functional Collaboration: Act as a "universal translator" between IT, business stakeholders, developers, and data scientists to deliver value-driven solutions.
Code Quality & Reviews: Participate actively in code reviews and contribute to large-scale architectural decisions.
Core Work Duties and Obligations
Your day-to-day responsibilities will involve working on aspects of the Dataworks platform that govern the ingestion, transformation, and pipelining of data assets. Key duties include:
Developing a deep understanding of both the business and technical challenges that Dataworks aims to solve
Building tools, platforms, and pipelines that enable teams to analyze data clearly and efficiently, build models, and drive data-informed decisions
Scaling solutions from "computer scale" to "cluster scale" issues, addressing both infrastructure and problem structure
Collaborating across teams to generate data-driven operational insights that lead to high-value optimized solutions
Delivering tangible value quickly while working with diverse teams of varying backgrounds and disciplines
Establishing best practices for future reuse through open, reusable patterns, templates, and code bases
Partnering with senior technologists from across the organization and external partners to ensure smooth integration with downstream systems
Essential Qualifications
To succeed in this role, you must have:
Educational Background: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Data Science, or a related technical field
Technical Foundation: Strong background in software engineering, database systems, and distributed computing architectures
Data Engineering Experience: Proven experience in building and maintaining data pipelines at scale
Programming Skills: Proficiency in at least one programming language used for data processing (Python, Scala, or Java)
Cloud Platform Knowledge: Familiarity with cloud platforms, particularly Microsoft Azure
Version Control: Comfortable working with version control systems and participating in code reviews
