The City of De Pere is seeking an enthusiastic and experienced Dance Instructor to lead our vibrant Youth Dance Program. As a key member of our team, you will have the opportunity to inspire and guide young dancers aged 3-14 in a variety of dance styles, including tap, ballet, jazz, hip hop, lyrical, and contemporary.

About Our Program
Our De Pere Youth Dance Program is designed to foster a love of dance in children, while promoting physical activity, creativity, and self-expression. With a focus on fun and engaging instruction, our program aims to provide a supportive and nurturing environment where young dancers can grow and develop their skills.

Key Responsibilities

Teach beginner to intermediate/advanced dance classes to youth aged 3-14, with a focus on technique, creativity, and performance quality
Develop and choreograph two routines per season, tailored to the age and skill level of your students
Assist with costume selection and preparations for recital performances
Communicate effectively with parents and guardians, providing feedback and guidance as needed
Maintain a safe and supportive learning environment, identifying and responding to participant behavior issues as necessary
Participate in two recital performances at the end of the season, showcasing your students' hard work and talent


Typical Work Schedule
Our Dance Instructors typically teach 3 classes per evening, with flexibility to choose one or more evenings based on availability. Classes are held on Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday evenings, from 4:30-7:30pm, at De Pere High School and the De Pere Community Center.

Essential Qualifications and Skills
To succeed in this role, you should possess:

A strong background in dance, with experience in multiple styles (tap, ballet, jazz, hip hop, lyrical, contemporary)
Previous teaching experience, particularly with children, is highly desirable
Knowledge of dance terminology and ability to perform dance skills
Creativity, enthusiasm, and energy, with the ability to inspire and motivate young dancers
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with children, parents, and staff
Ability to maintain a safe and supportive learning environment, with a focus on participant safety and well-being


Preferred Qualifications
While not required, the following qualifications are highly valued:

Formal dance training or education
Experience with dance rehearsals, recitals, and costume ordering
Ability to choreograph complex dance routines and progressively teach a specified age group
