Job Summary

The successful candidate will be expected to teach at the undergraduate and graduate levels, provide service, mentor students, and maintain a strong and independent research program. Key Responsibilities

Teach undergraduate and graduate courses in mathematics and data science, including developing new courses and curricula
Conduct independent research in applied mathematics and data science, with a focus on developing and applying data-driven mathematical modeling and computation
Mentor students, including undergraduate and graduate research projects, and provide academic advising
Participate in departmental and university service, including committee work and community outreach
Collaborate with colleagues across the UNC campus to develop interdisciplinary research projects and programs
Stay current with developments in the field, including attending conferences, workshops, and seminars


Essential Qualifications

A Ph.D. in Mathematics, Applied Mathematics, or a closely related field
Strong research potential, including a record of publications and presentations
Excellent teaching and communication skills, including the ability to teach a diverse range of students
Ability to work independently and as part of a team

Preferred Qualifications

Postdoctoral experience in applied mathematics or data science
