About the Role of an English Immersion Teacher We are seeking a dedicated and passionate English Immersion Teacher to join our vibrant team. The successful candidate will work closely with students to foster their development in English Language Arts and Social Studies, creating a supportive learning environment that helps students meet their learning goals. Through engaging and diverse methodologies, students will learn and apply important rules of reading, writing, and speaking in English. The English Immersion Teacher will embody and promote La Academia’s equity-minded practices and mission-aligned values, contributing to a culture of inclusivity, creativity, and academic excellence. Key Responsibilities Plan, prepare, and deliver standards-based curricula in English Language Arts and Social Studies, ensuring alignment with our school’s mission and values. Create instructional resources for classroom use, adapting to the needs of all students, including English Learners, Students with Disabilities, and those below or above grade level. Deliver instruction effectively, making phonics explicit and foundational skills a priority, and differentiate instruction to meet the diverse needs of our students. Drive outstanding student achievement and engaged learning through creative lesson plans, organized classroom procedures, and the implementation of intervention and Response to Intervention (RTI) strategies. Design opportunities that foster language acquisition in reading, writing, speaking, and listening, as well as academic vocabulary development, following the grade-level scope, sequence, and pacing guides. Evaluate student progress regularly through formative and summative assessments, communicating with families and maintaining accurate records of student work and progress. Participate in professional growth activities, collaborative groups, and Professional Learning Communities (PLC), demonstrating a commitment to lifelong learning and professional development. Build strong, positive relationships with students, their families, and colleagues, promoting a sense of community and collaboration that supports our school’s mission. Essential Qualifications Hold or be eligible to obtain a valid Delaware Teaching License and Certification at the Elementary level, in accordance with 14 Del. C. § 1531. Successful completion of Praxis II exams. 1-2 years of teaching experience at the elementary school level, with a bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education. Demonstrate a passion for working with elementary school students through a student-centered, whole-child approach. Prioritize lifelong learning and be driven to improve instructional practice for professional and personal development as an educator. Preferred Qualifications Bilingual in Spanish, enhancing our ability to support diverse student needs and communicate effectively with families. Experience with Responsive Classroom approaches to classroom behavior and restorative practices among students, fostering a positive and respectful learning environment. Additional qualifications or alternatives as deemed necessary by the Board of Education and School Administration, reflecting our commitment to excellence and adaptability in education.
