Introduction to the University of Washington and the Robinson Center for Young Scholars The University of Washington, a renowned institution for academic excellence and innovative research, is seeking a dedicated and passionate individual to join its team as a 2024 Saturday Teaching Aide. This temporary, hourly position is an exceptional opportunity to work with the Robinson Center for Young Scholars, a program designed to provide intellectually ambitious students in grades K-8 with challenging, inspiring, and fun learning experiences. As a Saturday Teaching Aide, you will play a vital role in supporting the program's mission to foster a collaborative and supportive learning environment that encourages students to explore topics beyond the standard curriculum. Job Summary and Responsibilities The 2024 Saturday Teaching Aide will assist instructors with all aspects of instruction and supervision during the Saturday programming, which runs for 8 weeks each quarter. The successful candidate will be responsible for: Facilitating small group conversations with students and participating in classroom activities, evaluations, and attendance taking Documenting student work and performing experiments or classroom demonstrations as needed Escorting students between campus locations during class changes and monitoring student safety Assisting course instructors with daily set up and break down of classrooms and supplies Recording hours bi-monthly in Workday and performing other related duties as assigned Minimum Requirements To be considered for this position, applicants must: Be at least 15 years of age at the start of the program Be able to attend all class sessions and trainings/orientations Have equivalent education/experience that substitutes for all minimum qualifications, except when there are legal requirements such as a license/certification/registration Desired Qualifications While not required, the following qualifications are highly desirable: Experience working with youth in an educational setting Strong communication and interpersonal skills Ability to work effectively in a team environment and support instructors with diverse teaching styles Familiarity with the University of Washington's policies and procedures What We Offer As a temporary, hourly employee of the University of Washington, you will enjoy: A competitive hourly salary of $18.69 Opportunities for professional growth and development in an educational setting A dynamic and supportive work environment that values diversity, equity, and inclusion Access to the University's resources and facilities Work Schedule and Location The 2024 Saturday Teaching Aide position is located on the Seattle campus of the University of Washington.
