About the Role

The Aircraft Maintenance Technician, also referred to as the Airplane Support Professional, is a fundamental position within Delta's TechOps team. As a key contributor, you will be responsible for maintaining the integrity and safety of Delta's aircraft, engines, and components. Your expertise will be essential in guaranteeing that all maintenance activities are performed in accordance with Delta and FAA regulations, ensuring the airworthiness of the fleet.

Key Responsibilities


Perform all work activities in accordance with established regulations, guidelines, rules, safety protocols, and procedures to ensure the safety of self and others.
Inspect aircraft or aircraft parts, including landing gear, hydraulic systems, tires, and engines for damage, defects, corrosion, or other wear to guarantee airworthiness.
Recommend substitution, repair, or modification of aircraft hardware based on inspection findings.
Report issues, breakdowns, unusual wear, or damage to appropriate staff as required.
Install, remove, or modify aircraft designs, systems, or parts, following drawings, schematics, diagrams, engineering requests, and technical publications.
Repair worn, defective, or damaged parts or components using hand tools, gauges, and testing equipment.
Review completed work to ensure that maintenance adheres to regulations and procedures, and that aircraft are ready for operation.
Interpret logs or records (written or verbal) to understand the history and nature of issues, troubleshoot problems, and identify potential next steps.
Research, read, and interpret technical manuals and guidelines to perform inspections, installations, repairs, or other work activities.
Review maintenance records to determine whether service and maintenance checks, repairs, and updates were performed at prescribed intervals.
Maintain repair logs, documenting all preventive and corrective aircraft maintenance activities.
Serve as a technical expert or coach by providing guidance and corrective recommendations to others.
Utilize computers, computer systems, and other technologies to enter, document, access, retrieve, or transmit information.


Compensation and Benefits

The base starting hourly rate for this position is $40.73, with a potential maximum hourly rate of $41.32. The ability to reach the maximum hourly rate is subject to various other offered incentives, such as Airframe and Powerplant license, shift differential, station location differential, line maintenance differential, and skill differential.

Essential Qualifications

To succeed in this role, you must possess:


A FAA Airframe and Power Plant license
A valid driver's license
The ability to pass a government-required unique fingerprint-based criminal history records check
The ability to pass a DOT-required pre-employment drug screen and subsequent DOT-mandated random drug and alcohol testing
The ability to read, write, speak, and understand English
A high school diploma, GED, or high school equivalency
Being at least 18 years old and having authorization to work in the US


Preferred Qualifications

The following qualifications will give you a competitive edge:


One year of non-temporary employment experience
Prior military experience
Previous work experience in the aviation industry
Status as a current Delta employee
One year of mechanical experience (beyond educational experience)
One year of aircraft maintenance experience (beyond educational experience)
One year of heavy jet maintenance experience (beyond educational experience)
Prior electronics/avionics experience or FCC license
