Key Responsibilities
Instruct students on material needed to become proficient in the English Language, with a focus on preparing them for transitioning to GED instruction.
Assess students' readiness to take the GED exam and provide targeted support to ensure their success.
Create engaging lesson plans, modifying them as needed to meet the diverse needs of our students.
Maintain accurate records, including grade books and attendance logs, using tools like Power School.
Grade papers, perform administrative duties, and create projects that enhance lectures and promote student engagement.
Stay up-to-date with current topics in adult education, integrating competencies, goals, and objectives into lesson plans.
Utilize various curriculum resources, reflecting the diverse educational, cultural, and linguistic backgrounds of our students.
Develop incentives to keep participants engaged and motivated in class.
Foster professional relationships with other agencies and programs, working collaboratively to ensure program initiatives are met.
Establish clear objectives for all learning activities, preparing and distributing required reports, and observing and evaluating student performance.
Essential Qualifications
To be successful in this role, you will need:
A current Michigan teaching certificate with ESL endorsements preferred.
Demonstrated ability to work effectively with teaching staff and other stakeholders.
Strong organizational skills, with the ability to maintain accurate records and manage multiple tasks.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage and motivate adult learners.
Preferred Qualifications
Prior experience teaching ESL to adult learners.
Experience with Power School or similar student information systems.
