Summary:The position requires a dynamic individual with an environmental science, water quality, geology, biology, chemistry, or civil engineering background and the ability to work flexible hours (but primarily Monday through Friday) and a willingness to travel by vehicle routinely. The position will be extremely active and will include field assignments that involve conducting Storm Water Pollution Prevention Plan (SWPPP) inspections and Best Management Practices (BMPs) design and installations for major utility companies in Southern California. Knowledge of SWPPP type work and possession of a Qualified Stormwater Practitioner (QSP) license is preferred. Knowledge of environmental laws and regulations is a plus. The position requires an individual who is capable of working independently on a daily basis and can conduct themselves in a professional manner with limited guidance. The salary range for this position is $66,922-$119,471/year, please note this is a tiered position.This is a Telecommute potion with 10-75% travel to project sites. The ideal candidates will live within 60 minutes commuting distance to Riverside, CA and/or Red Bluff, CA.Essential Duties and Responsibilities – All Levels: (including but not limited to)Conduct SWPPP field inspections and perform storm water sampling, and prepare technical research and documentation Assisting in the preparation of technical plans and reportsConducting regulatory compliance reviews and interpreting environmental codes and regulationsCollaborating with client, regulatory agencies, contractors, and other specialty project parties to develop plans and recommendations best suited for each individual site and projectCollecting and interpreting environmental sampling data, and providing field consultations as requiredReading specifications such as GIS and CAD figures to determine construction requirements and to help in planning proceduresAdhering to schedule and financial objectives as specified by project managementEnhancing company reputation by accepting ownership for the team's performance and adding value to assigned tasksAssisting with the Proposal and Contract preparation processExamining and inspecting work progress, equipment, and construction sites to verify safety and to ensure that specifications are metConferring with managerial and technical personnel, other departments, and contractors in order to resolve problems and to coordinate activitiesRecording information such as personnel, production, and operational data on specified forms and reports; communicate with the Project ManagerAnalyzing worker and production problems and recommending solutions, such as improving production methods or implementing motivational plansProvide assistance to the Project Manager with the proposal and contract processProvide assistance to the Project Manager with the estimating and invoicing processPerforming any other duties as assigned by managementLevel Specific ResponsibilitiesLevel - IIProvide client assistance to program and project managers; scope, schedule, and budget on projectsMaintain 1-2 areas of technical expertiseLead teams performing project tasks, both in the office and field locationsTechnical project execution and document preparation, peer review of project documentsAssist with task order and project proposalsTechnical mentoring40% - 60% of time may be spent conducting field work, potentially in remote locationsLevel - IIIProvide client assistance to program and project managers; scope, schedule, and budget on projectsMaintain two areas of technical expertiseLead teams performing project tasks, both in the office and field locationsLead technical project execution and document preparation, peer review project documentsAssist with task order and project proposalsProject staffing and technical mentoringManage smaller projects involving site characterization, long-term monitoring, and similar tasks10% - 40% of time may be spent conducting field work, potentially in remote locationsLevel - SeniorProvide client assistance to program and project managers; scope, schedule, and budget onMaintain 2-3 areas of technical expertiseLead technical project execution and document preparation, senior review project documentsPrepare task order and project proposalsProject staffing and technical mentoringManager projects involving site characterization, long-term monitoring, and similar tasks10% - 25% of time may be spent conducting field work, potentially in remote locationsMinimum QualificationsAll levels:Bachelor’s Degree in Physical/Environmental Sciences or a similarly related fieldExperience working on projects with utility companiesValid Driver’s License with clean driving record, able to drive a company vehicleProficient computer skills using Microsoft Office SuiteAdept at explaining technical aspects of field work to internal and external clients verbally and in writingLevel - IIThree (3) to Five (5) years of relevant working experience, specialized training, and/or an advanced degree, such as an MS, may be substituted for work experienceLevel - IIIFive (5) to Seven (7) years of relevant working experience, specialized training, and/or an advanced degree, such as an MS, may be substituted for work experienceLevel - SeniorEight (8) or more years of relevant working experience, specialized training, and/or an advanced degree, such as an MS, may be substituted for work experienceCertified Environmental Professional or equivalentPreferred QualificationsCalifornia Qualified Stormwater Practitioner (QSP) or Qualified Stormwater Plan Developer (QSD) Certification.
