Entry Accountant (Hybrid Work Option)

They are seeking an entry-level Accountant to support financial analysis and rate studies for municipal utilities, working under the supervision of senior analysts and project managers.ResponsibilitiesSupport water, wastewater, and stormwater rate studies, bond feasibility studies, financial strategic planning and related including revenue requirement analyses, cost allocation, and rate designCompile, organize, and analyze utility financial data, including operating budgets, capital improvement plans, debt schedules, and historical financial statementsAssist in developing and maintaining financial models (primarily Excelâbased) to evaluate rate impacts, affordability metrics, and longâterm financial sustainabilityPerform data validation and QA/QC on financial inputs, assumptions, and outputsPrepare tables, figures, and draft narrative sections for technical memoranda, reports, and presentationsAssist with benchmarking and comparative analyses across utilities and regionsCoordinate with project team members to track data requests and support client communicationsMaintain organized electronic project files in accordance with internal QA/QC proceduresPerform other analytical and administrative tasks as assigned in support of project deliverySkillsBachelor's Degree0 years of ExperienceStrong quantitative, organizational and analytical skillsFamiliarity with basic accounting principles (e.g., fund accounting, depreciation, debt service)Proficiency with Microsoft Excel (formulas, logical functions, data organization; exposure to pivot tables and basic financial modeling preferred)Clear written and verbal communication skillsStrong attention to detail and ability to work with large datasetsAbility to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines in a collaborative team environmentAbility to identify problems and potential solutions proactivelyInterest in publicâsector finance, utilities, infrastructure, or municipal servicesBachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, Business Administration, Public Administration, or a closely related fieldInternship, coursework, or project experience related to: Public finance, utility finance, or governmental accounting; Costâofâservice studies or rate analysis; Budgeting, forecasting, or financial planningExposure to data visualization or financial analysis tools beyond Excel (e.g., Power BI, Tableau, R, Python) is a plus but not requiredBenefitsAll bonuses at CDM Smith are discretionary and may or may not apply to this position.Company OverviewTrinnex is a software firm that offers cloud-based software services for infrastructure maintenance.
