In this role, you’ll lead a high-impact team of Machine Learning Engineers dedicated to improving relevance, personalization, and discovery of the core product. Whether focusing on the retrieval and selection of content or the sophisticated modeling that determines its final order, your work will directly shape the personalized experiences of over 120M+ daily users. Responsibilities: Define Technical Vision & Strategy: Define the technical vision and long-term roadmap for Feed Relevance, aligning cutting-edge ML solutions with Reddit’s product and business objectives. Team Leadership & Development: Coach and support the development of your team, constantly seeking opportunities to grow their skills and impact. Cross-Functional Partnership: Work with cross-functional partners from across the company to identify key areas of opportunity, set expectations, and communicate your team’s work. Technical Execution & Delivery: Oversee the design, development, and optimization of sophisticated relevance, discovery, and content distribution systems. Platform & Infrastructure Collaboration: Collaborate with platform and infrastructure teams to chart a path to the next generation of AI-powered solutions for Reddit. Operational Excellence: Maintain high standards for system performance, reliability, and efficiency in alignment with customer needs and responsible AI principles. Qualifications: Experience Leading ML Teams: 2+ years of experience building and managing high-performing ML teams. Deep ML Expertise: Hands-on experience with large-scale production ML systems, including transformer-based architectures , sequence models , or Large Language Models (LLMs) . Technical Domain Knowledge: Strong understanding of recommender systems, including candidate retrieval, ranking, value modeling, ecosystem dynamics, and measurement strategies. Strategic Thinking: Ability to develop and communicate a clear, compelling technical strategy that supports broader company objectives and addresses the needs of internal customers. Impact-Driven Mindset: Passion for developing scalable, well-designed, and responsible AI solutions that drive business value. In addition to base salary, this job is eligible to receive equity in the form of restricted stock units, and depending on the position offered, it may also be eligible to receive a commission. We set standard base pay ranges for all roles based on function, level, and country location, benchmarked against similar stage growth companies. Final offer amounts are determined by multiple factors including, skills, depth of work experience and relevant licenses/credentials, and may vary from the amounts listed below. The base salary range for this position is: $230,000 — $322,000 USD In select roles and locations, the interviews will be recorded, transcribed and summarized by artificial intelligence (AI).
