We hope your conversations with us reflect a thoughtful process that is illuminative, enjoyable, and respectful of your time.About the RoleAs an Engineering Manager, Expansion, you will lead a team responsible for building the platform capabilities and critical customer experiences that enable customers to scale successfully on Render.This team will own and build foundational systems such as APIs and integrations, identity and access management, compliance, and key product experiences like CI/CD pipelines and deployment workflows. These capabilities help customers adopt Render in more advanced environments and operate reliably as their usage grows.You will operate at the intersection of engineering, product, and infrastructure—shaping systems and experiences that make Render extensible, secure, scalable, and intuitive to use. This includes building robust platform primitives, improving critical workflows, and enabling customers to grow with confidence on the platform.What You’ll DoLead and grow a team of engineers responsible for platform capabilities and critical customer experiences that support customer expansion and scaleOwn a significant portion of the platform and user experience, contributing to areas such as:APIs and integrations ecosystemIdentity and access management (IAM), roles, and permissionsCompliance and enterprise readiness featuresCI/CD pipelines, deployment workflows, and operational toolingDefine and evolve the systems and workflows that enable customers to:Integrate Render into their development and operational workflowsManage teams, permissions, and environments securelyDeploy and operate services reliably at scaleBuild and scale foundational systems with a focus on reliability, extensibility, security, and usabilityPartner closely with Product and Design to align roadmap with customer and platform needsCollaborate with other engineering teams to ensure seamless integration across the platformMake and guide key architectural decisions for long-term platform evolutionBalance long-term platform investments with iterative improvements to customer-facing workflowsFoster a culture of ownership, quality, and operational excellenceHire and develop engineers as the team growsWhat We’re Looking ForProven track record of leading teams building customer-facing product experiences in complex technical domainsStrong technical background with the ability to guide the design of scalable, reliable product systems and workflowsExperience building products on top of underlying platform capabilities such as CI/CD, IAM, compliance, APIs, or deployment systemsExperience managing and developing engineers, including hiring and performance managementAbility to operate in ambiguous, cross-functional environments and bring clarity to complex problem spacesExperience partnering closely with Product, Design, and other engineering teamsStrong product instincts and the ability to translate technical capabilities into intuitive customer experiencesClear ability to connect engineering investments to customer adoption, usability, and business impactNice-to-HavesExperience working on developer-facing product experiences or technical workflowsFamiliarity with CI/CD systems, deployment workflows, IAM, or enterprise product capabilitiesExperience building products that depend on APIs, integrations, or platform subsystemsBackground in developer platforms, DevTools, or complex B2B SaaS productsWe value diverse paths and experiences.
