Tax Accountant - Indirect

The Tax Accountant will assist with Wesco’s indirect tax compliance and audits, ensuring timely and accurate filing obligations while developing knowledge of tax compliance software.ResponsibilitiesGather data and compile to ensure filing obligations are timely and accurately metAlso assist in handling related notices and audits by tax authoritiesDevelop knowledge of OneSource tax compliance software and coordinate with outside service providers to complete assigned tax formsPerform tax reconciliationsResearch and document positions taken in the tax returns, including preparation of written memorandaMaintain, update and enhance tax workplans and processes for compliance and financial reportingBecome proficient and utilize current technology/software solutions, such as Alteryx, OneSource and others, to create efficiencies in data preparation and analysisMonitor developments in tax law specific to your assigned team and assist in implementing changes required to comply and/or adapt to new laws/requirementsEnsure compliance and maintain internal controls under Sarbanes Oxley Section 404 for the tax compliance and planning processes ensuring no significant deficiencies or material weaknessesCoach, train and mentor junior staff including interns or less experienced Tax AccountantsIf assigned to international tax team the following would apply: Assist with analysis and modeling of all aspects of U.S. international taxation, including foreign source income and expenses, GILTI, FDII, Subpart F, Section 163(j), and foreign tax credits as required for the income tax provision, tax compliance, and tax planningIdentify and report intercompany transactions for country-by-country reporting and mandatory disclosure requirementsCoordinate with foreign tax and accounting staff to gather and review foreign entity information utilized in the US tax compliance and reportingSkillsBachelors Degree - Accounting, finance or related requiredCPA certification preferredExperience within the tax field (1 year required including internships, 3 years preferred)Knowledge of accounting theory, principles, and practices and their applicationKnowledge of pertinent tax laws, codes, and regulationsStrong analytical skillsStrong written and verbal communication skillsStrong office and computer skills, including Microsoft Word and ExcelAbility to research and analyze a variety of informationAbility to establish and maintain cooperative working relationshipsAssembly of data and preparation of reportsCPA certification preferredExperience within the tax field (3 years preferred)BenefitsPaid time offMedical, dental, and vision coverageRetirement savings plansCompany OverviewAt Wesco, we believe life should run smoothly.
