This is an exciting opportunity for an individual with deep expertise in European energy markets, particularly in market modelling, strategy, and system planning. As a pivotal member of our team, you will play a key role in delivering high-value insights to support strategic investment, policy decisions, and operational improvements across the energy sector.This position will be central to our strategy for developing and delivering market insights using PLEXOS. From day one, you will be expected to develop and defend robust market models that produce credible, investment-grade insights—such as long-term price forecasts, capacity mix evolution, and cross-border flow projections—that directly influence commercial, regulatory, and system planning decisions.You will engage with senior stakeholders, including utilities, developers, system operators, investors, and regulators, acting as a trusted advisor in the application of advanced modelling to real-world energy sector challenges.Key Responsibilities:Lead Model Design Development:Design and develop PLEXOS-based market models across various time horizons (short-term dispatch to long-term capacity expansion).Produce commercially and operationally relevant outputs, including price forecasts, generation mix outlooks, and market evolution scenarios to support strategic decisions, asset valuation, and risk analysis.Customer Advisory:Advise customers on modelling best practices, market assumptions, and the interpretation of results based on your first-hand market knowledge.Guide clients through modelling engagements, ensuring a thorough understanding of results and building trust in the process.Investigate root causes where model outcomes deviate from expectations, propose modifications, and articulate the trade-offs or limitations involved.Thought Leadership Industry Engagement:Contribute to internal and external thought leadership by producing studies, position papers, and presenting at industry forums.Showcase the value of Energy Exemplar’s tools and expertise to external stakeholders and the wider energy community.Collaboration with Sales Commercial Teams:Work closely with the commercial team to shape technical solutions and support high-value sales opportunities.Engage with senior stakeholders to identify and demonstrate how PLEXOS can address specific business challenges.Provide valuable feedback to product management to help shape the development of data offerings, modelling tools, and solution packaging.Candidate Requirements QualificationsMarket Expertise: In-depth knowledge of European electricity markets, market modelling (e.g., PLEXOS, BID3, Antares), and energy system operations.Advisory Stakeholder Engagement: Experience working directly with senior stakeholders and providing advisory services in energy market modelling.Analytical Skills: Strong quantitative skills to interpret and communicate complex model results.Project Management: Ability to manage projects from requirements gathering to delivery, with excellent communication and multitasking skills.Experience: 10+ years in energy market modelling or strategy consulting, with proficiency in PLEXOS or similar tools.Energy Exemplar is an equal opportunities employer and we value your unique identity and perspective.
