Key Responsibilities Collaborate with Stakeholders: Work with students, parents, colleagues, and administrators to establish and maintain positive relationships and high expectations for student learning. Design Engaging Instruction: Develop lesson plans and deliver instruction that caters to diverse learning styles and needs, ensuring all students are engaged and participating in individual and classroom learning objectives. Guide Learning: Develop and guide learning in partnership with students, setting classroom mission and learning goals, and implementing strategies and processes to achieve these goals. Evaluate Student Performance: Analyze assessment data and other comparative data to gauge and adjust instruction to improve individual and class performance. Implement Best Practices: Stay up-to-date with current best practices in music education and implement resources that support student learning and align with state and district standards. Maintain Documentation: Keep accurate records of student data and reports, and maintain personal teaching certification as required. Manage Classroom Structure: Establish a positive, safe, and orderly learning environment that supports students in achieving classroom and individual goals. Model Positive Behaviors: Demonstrate professional and ethical behavior, promoting social and interpersonal skills in alignment with district goals. Oversee Classroom Support: Supervise assistant teachers, student teachers, instructional assistants, volunteers, and student workers to ensure effective classroom operation. Participate in Meetings: Attend team and building meetings, professional growth opportunities, and parent-teacher conferences to convey and gather information. Respond to Emergencies: Handle emergency situations, such as fights or suspected child abuse, and direct to appropriate personnel for resolution. Essential Qualifications and Requirements To be successful in this role, you will need: Education and Experience: A Bachelor's degree and current Louisiana teacher certification. Technological Abilities: Proficiency in general computer use, email, and other job-specific software and applications. Professional Conduct: A high standard of professional conduct, including adherence to district policies and regulations. Preferred Qualifications While not required, the following qualifications are highly desirable: Experience in music education, particularly in elementary music. Knowledge of curriculum design and implementation. Ability to work with diverse student populations. Skills and Competencies To excel as an Elementary Music Teacher, you will need: Communication and Interpersonal Skills: Ability to communicate effectively with students, parents, and colleagues.
