Electro-Mechanical Engineer I
Mission Support and Test Services, LLC (MSTS) manages and operates the Nevada National Security Site for the U.S. National Nuclear Security Administration. They are seeking an Electro-Mechanical Engineer I to provide engineering expertise and hands-on support for various projects, focusing on the design and analysis of mechanical assemblies and components.ResponsibilitiesContributes to the design of mechanical assemblies and components using SolidWorksAssists in performing design and technical analysis activities using prescribed codes, standards, and computer softwareContributes to designs, strategies, reports, and technical proposalsSupports field programs and designs using pre-determined principles and practicesProvides hands-on field support, including the use of basic hand tools for mechanical builds and assemblyWorks independently on assigned tasks within an established framework, following detailed technical specificationsAssists in defining specifications for procurements, initiates purchase requestsSupports the engagement with customers, other organizations, and collaborates with National Weapons laboratoriesCoordinates discipline information with other departments and outside vendors to obtain relevant informationServes as a member of work teams to contribute to solutions for assignment-related problemsPerform other duties assigned by ManagementSkillsBachelor's degree in an engineering program accredited by the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (ABET) required for Civil, Mechanical and Electrical engineering degreesKnowledge of, and skill in applying, fundamental engineering principles, concepts, and practicesKnowledge of computer-aided design software (specifically SolidWorks) contributes to the design of mechanical assemblies and componentsKnowledge of basic hand tools and their application in mechanical builds and assembly is requiredSkill in applying established technical specifications, codes, and standards to perform design analysis and support field programsMust possess a valid driver's licenseApplicants offered employment with MSTS are also subject to a federal background investigation to meet the requirements for access to classified information or matter if the duties of the position require a DOE security clearanceApplicants for employment must be able to obtain and maintain a DOE Q-level security clearance, which requires U.S. citizenship, at least 18 years of ageBenefitsMedical, dental, and visionBoth a pension and a 401kPaid time off and 96 hours of paid holidaysRelocation (if located more than 75 miles from work location)Tuition assistance and reimbursementCompany OverviewThe Nevada National Security Sites help ensure the security of the United States and its allies by: supporting the stewardship of the nation’s nuclear deterrent; providing nuclear and radiological emergency response capabilities and training; contributing to key nonproliferation and arms control initiatives; executing national-level experiments in support of the National Laboratories; working with national security customers and other federal agencies on important national security activities; and providing long-term environmental stewardship of the NNSS’s Cold War legacy.
