Job Summary:
We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Early Childhood Special Education Teaching Assistant to join our team in Illinois. As a Teaching Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting students with special needs, working closely with licensed teachers and therapists to maximize participation in learning and achievement of Individualized Education Program (IEP) objectives.
Key Responsibilities:
Implement instructional plans as determined by licensed teachers and therapists
Provide physical care and support as needed, including diapering, toileting, and feeding
Observe, document, and reinforce appropriate student behaviors
Participate in weekly team meetings to review student progress and plan upcoming lessons
Assist with non-instructional activities and provide support during transitions
Requirements:
Valid Educator License with Stipulations (PARA), Substitute License, or Professional Educator License
Experience working with special education students preferred
Ability to read, write, and speak English fluently
Basic arithmetic skills and proficiency in using personal computers and software applications
Compassionate and supportive demeanor, with ability to establish positive relationships with students and staff
Physical Abilities:
Ability to lift students and perform physical manipulations as needed
Regularly required to see, speak, and hear; frequently required to sit, stand, walk, and use hands and fingers to handle or feel
