Associate Attorney – Complex Civil Litigation (Remote or Santa Barbara-Based)
A prominent Santa Barbara-based litigation team is expanding and seeks a skilled Associate Attorney with 5+ years of civil litigation experience. This is an opportunity to join a respected firm known for its trial advocacy and appellate work across a broad spectrum of complex civil matters.
The litigation group handles a diverse caseload, including business disputes, class actions, employment and disability rights cases, public entity defense, catastrophic personal injury, intellectual property, and sexual abuse litigation. Associates are trusted with meaningful responsibility from the outset, including client interaction, court appearances, and trial preparation, with direct mentorship from partners and senior attorneys.
Responsibilities include:
• Drafting and responding to pleadings, motions, and discovery
• Preparing for and attending depositions, hearings, and mediations
• Conducting in-depth legal research and advising on strategy
• Managing deadlines, document organization, and case workflow
• Assisting with trial preparation and participating in trial proceedings, including direct and cross-examinations as experience allows
Qualifications:
• Active California Bar membership
• 5+ years of civil litigation experience
• Strong writing, research, and analytical abilities
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to handle complex matters independently while collaborating with a team
• Eagerness to grow as a trial attorney in a fast-paced litigation environment
Compensation & Benefits:
• Salary range: $155,000–$230,000 (commensurate with experience)
